Sound great. Will be a pity to miss the possible white Xmas but I'm OK here with the warm winds, the 22c this sunday and the wonderful mountian trek looking for those damn elusive mushrooms with Salih.

'Christmas is coming,

Christmas is coming

The Bosses are getting fat

The unions ballot for fairplay

The bosses go to court to have a democratically held ballot overturned. Power to the unions striking for justice

reading the comments from the rank and file BA staff, even they think that the union was out of order, and having read the changes that BA are pressing for, I am even more convinced that they (the union) are living in a past age.

Stupid striking in the present climate. At least they have well-paid jobs and if B.A. goes

under they will be on the dole. No thought for passengers (who pay their wages) company

or country.

Surely the BBC should stop embarassing themselves by calling our recent weather 'heavy snow' - if anything, snow is one of the lightest things around. I for one could lift a lot of it. )

Hi No1Doyen,

We lived in Denmark before we moved to TRNC,

some of the snow there could be considered heavy.

Especially the winter of 78-79,

I wonder what would happen if the UK got as much snow as this?

Have a look at these photo's, click on arrows at bottom of photo to continue viewing....

http://galleri.tv2.dk/index.php/category-Vejret/id-19298172/page-68.html

Once we got about 4 inches of snow in less than 1 hour,

while we were out shopping, and got home OK

Into 2010, and it's worse than ever...

The Big Freeze continues to grip much of the UK

with up to 40cm of snow forecast and much of the transport network crippled.

Most airports in the UK are having problems the following si from BAA updated at 09.47 06-01-10

A severe weather warning is in place across the South East of England, with snow forecast at Heathrow on Wednesday 6th January.

Stansted Airport is open and operating as normal. However, due to the changeable weather at this time of the year, passengers are advised to check with their airline and allow extra time for their journey to the airport.

Weather disruption: Glasgow Airport is open. However, due to heavy snow and icy conditions across the UK, flights to and from the airport may be subject to delays and cancellations. Passengers are advised to check with their airline before travelling to the airport.

Birmingham Airport is open; however the heavy snow fall over night has led to disruption to flights, including delays and some cancellations.

The runway at Gatwick Airport is currently closed for snow clearance. We are working closely with our airline and business par..

Typical! I can only be so on the ball! The BAA still show it as I messaged - they just own Stansted and do not know.

I will change it for the flights 2009 / 2010 thread thanks

Brrrrrrrrr, it's cold outside....

This striking image taken by Nasa's Terra satellite on 7 January

shows the UK deep in the clutches of the current cold snap.

And it's to get colder!
