South to north long stay 6mths

Hi, can anyone confirm if a long stay of 6mths in the north from the south requires any visa paper work etc Ta Tom

As far as I know, any stay in the north of more than three months requires residency permission. No probs on the other side if you are an EU citizen.

You should be able top get by on extensions of your original 90 day visa by crossing back to the south and probably getting 30 days extra each time.



Alternatively you can ask at the police station probably the big one in Nicosia for a 90 day extension.



Whatever you do don't cut it too fine and go over the original visa time without an extension as there is a big daily fine which can only then be avoided by taking out temporary residence which is a hassell and involves getting blood tests and paying large fees etc.

Quite simple really if you come in from the South first time you can ask for a 90 day visa but it is advisable to exit again within the 90 days and return later the same day, but this time they may only give you a short time visa possibly 30 days, so if you want peace of mind go to immigration & police and tell them that you would like to remain it the country for 180 days and they will help you
