To all gardners, has anyone got any solutions for a diseased Date Palm Tree.

It appears to have termites do I have to chop down/destroy or is there any different solution. I really do not want to destroy the tree if it is not necessary. Many Thanks.

chatterbox check if it has got Red Palm Beetle (just google for all the details). If you pull out a piece from the trunk of the tree you may find the cocoons of the beetle. This is the problem allegedly imported on the palm trees that the Mayor of Girne brought from Egypt. My tree was infected recently and unfortunately by the time you notice the problem it is too late for the tree - it is already doomed.

You can try painting the trunk with Lime plaster, this available from local builders merchants
