My 3G internet connection (60 lire) keeps closing down on me since Ive started to run my generator, is this normal for a 550 kw geni. I have nothing else on but a small fridge and 2 lights and my computer of course!

Its all to do with the relative power & voltage fluctuation, I could bore you to death with the electircal thoery, but not need in this instance.

For the power to your PC/Modem or any other PC peripherial it would be best to run the through a voltage stabiliser or also known as a smoothing unit, which irons out the peaks & throughs. Should be available at any decent IT outlet.

A normal voltage stabilizer i.e. one that uses relays or a servo motor will not do the trick. They adjust the voltage but they do not take away the spikes. Your best bet is to use a Static Voltage regulator with a filter i.e. my brand ELKO JJW series, see http://www.elkocyprus.com/e-jjw.html

Try it on battery alone. If it does it again, then you are sure that its not the electrical supply cuasing it.
