Anyone know a good TV repair person in Lapta/Kyrenia area? I am waiting in vain for Arcelik to look at mine which is down since the power cuts of late.

There is a place in Alsancak opposite the Green Garage who are very helpful and reasonably priced! Plus they speak English.

By the way is the Green Garage (for TV repairs opposite) in Alsankak actually red, but called the Green Garage?? I was looking for the rugby ground opposite a green garage and it was the wrong one. The petrol station painted green is further down but the Green Garage is painted red.

Sick of waiting for arcelik so I tried a place opposite the Green Garage and two lads came back to mine and took the telly away in a white van and left the zapper. Last I've seen of that then!

When our 'in warranty' Arcelik brand big plasma TV went blank about 5 times consecutively, the (Lefkosa) Arcelik pick up van boys were excellent - always coming within a reasonable time from our 'distress calls'!

However, it took the Arcelik technicians at least 5 attempts before they finally sorted the problem, which we suspect was a weak component, which, when replaced was no better than its predecessor. However, they finally did fix the dratted TV - touch wood, the problem hasn't re-occurred for almost a year now!

Corbo - have you fitted a voltage surge protector?

If not, get down to Tektan - I think the 80 Lira one might be what you need. I have one of these coupled to one of those computer 'gizmo' protectors - 'belt and braces'!

Make sure the 'earth' (green & yellow wire) on your wall plug is connected properly, too.

The Satillite shop going out of Lapta on the left just before you get back onto the main Lapta/girne road, to wards Hos Bes super market, he comes to your property and will mend and is very reasonable and quick.
