HI ALL,



Does anyone no how old the satellite images are on Google earth or how often they are updated as trying to locate my villa but it looks different from a birds eye view can locate a few landmarks but cannot find my house in Karsiyaka close to the olive oil factory.

They are at least 3 or 4 years old. You can see the sight where Kavankoy now and recognise it from the road infrastructure and where the layers of trees were. No evidence of building and I know building began 3 and a half years ago on that site. Riverside village is clearly visible as is Escape beach with the island. You should be able to trace along from key older structures.

We are at Esentepe. We can see our villa quite clearly, so somewhere between 12/18 months ago.

must be from an updated satellite. they all join together with some marvellous technology so I am told.

We moved here about five years ago from Durham. We are in Alsancak over there.

We are at Wynyard, Billingham, and our Google Earth image was taken about 2.5 years ago!

All areas are covered by "layers", which are small areas of image that are overlayed and appear in Google earth to be "seamless".



They are infact individual images. This can be seen, if you follow the new road from out of Girne towards Esentepe. You will see the road go past the power station, past the Golf course and then onto Tatlisu.



But, somewhere past the power station the road appears to go into dust, then starts again.



This situation has never been the case and therefore shows the "layers".



annoying I know, but I look every week......sad

I believe since its availability to the public and with its constant mapping Google earth roves and updates on a 3 Yearly cycle?

However if you wish you can pay and get an up to date sattelite image
