My neighbours used SD but when they had a break-in last year, and £500 was stollen in cash, they were told their policy didn't cover cash. He then said he would get their window repaired, which didn't happen for 3 months. Not sure if he eventually done it or they just got it done themselves. Anyway, they are with Gunes Sigorta now.

St GeorgeI, I'm with Steve D and I pay £20pa for break in protection and know that cash is not covered unless in a safe. My contents are covered against theft but I wouldn't expect anything else to be covered. How much did your neighbour pay for theft coverage, perhaps they too paid very little.

We use Anadolu Sigorta, our agent is Ayla. They insure 1 bed apartments from £75.00, 2 beds from £100.00, 3 beds from £120 all including earthquake & landslide. For those with villas, pools, garages, boundary walls etc can be added on.

I have a copy of our general household policy, if anyone wants to see it, and what it covers email me. Mel

MSG 12: I'm not sure what they paid TBH Malsancak, but I know the policy they now have with Gunes covers them for a lot more, including cash up to £?????, for the same kind of premium. The bottom line is that when they tried to claim he didn't pay out.

Other people may have had a better experience, i'm just saying what happened to my neighbours. Maybe he's not as good as he was back in 2008.

I'm not sure exactly what he covers for £20pa (ALL OF YOUR CONTENTS ARE COVERED?) as that would barely cover the admin costs to set the policy up - no wonder he doesn't pay out when there's a claim. You sure you don't mean £20pm. NEVER EVER heard of a £20pa policy. Average here for a 3 bedroom property will be £120 - £200.

Anyway, I would personally go with a bigger company like Gunes (or Anadolu) as they are big companies in Turkey with many years local experience.

Cheers,

G

i was an insurance broker in the UK for 30 years, so consider myself to be somewhat of an expert....

I read Steve Dickinson's household policy, then 3 other providor's policies and ultimately bought from Creditwest - i leave you draw your own conclusions.....

As i have said numerous times before - many of the policies in the TRNC have more hoels in them than swiss cheese....

Both Hippo and TRNCVaughn are big buddies of Steves, so will always sing his praises...

Hi Nick - I figured that about TRNC Vaughan and Hippo. I am still interested to know exactly what he covers for £20pa though. If you are in the know Nick, have you ever heard of a policy for that amount?

we are agency for Gunes Sigorta, we have been dealing with Gunes 14months, we use to deal with Basak for 4years and we stopped with them due to problem with one of their agency(doesnt mean Basak is bad insurance). Gunes sigorta use online system to make insurance. Once we make insurance directly it does save to the servers at nicosia head office and istanbul head office. As everyone knows Gunes is one of the biggest company from Turkey. Can Insurance use to sell Gunes at past years but they are at court due to making fake insurances and they cannot do Gunes been for a long time. Most of the local companies doesnt use online system when they make insurance, and this cause a problem sometimes. I heard one of Kıbrıs Sigorta agency didnt pay 250000 total cost of insurance money to head office!!! this means that people who has insurance from Kibris Sigorta should call head office and ask if their broker paid his payments, if not start pray to not to have claim...

Maimee. re Creditwest website.

The whole site is either in Turkish or English. Just click for English & you can read the Insurance page in English. This page is only general. You will need to visit a bank branch for more detailed info.

The entire policy wasn't £20pa! I was talking about the theft element. On top of that was extras for earthquake, fire, landslide etc. As far as I can remember for valuables, e.g. jewellery & cash, they have to be in a safe so I was wondering if that was the reason there was no pay out.

europlus, you are online at the moment and after only 15 posts have made a serious accusation about Steve Dickinson which has the potential to cause his business financial loss. Could you please either publicly retract the statement or say who in Kibris Sigorta gave you this information.

Europlus ( http://www.europlussolar.com ) . I'm sure that your irresponsible stupid remarks and rumourmongering on this thread will have done your business no good at all. At least, I hope so, and that people will have seen just what sort of businessperson (ha!) you are. Now either justify your accusations or retract them. You have everything to lose.

I would cut your losses now, you are doing yourself no favours by continually making accusations that it appears as though you cannot support.

I for one would not place any business of mine with a company that resorted to unfounded accusations against rival companies.

mess 27 - for an agent to "move insurers" is a Hurculean task - once the insurer gets wind of what's going on, they are likely to put a spoke in the wheel..

What about Steve's customers that are still with kibris Sigorta ?

Steve told me that one of the benefits of moving to Universal Sigorta from Kibris Sigorta was that he could print out policies using their online system instead of having to wait for KS to get them to him. He then moved me over at renewal time. The policy with US is the same as KS.

I fear you may have done your own business far more damage than you might have done Steves. Steve has a reputation second to none. You, however, will now have a reputation for being a malicious rumour monger.

Hi TRNC Vaughan

Sorry so long replying but I have been out of circulation. Took out a policy with SD in May 2008 after such glowing reports on here.

E-mails and phone calls too try and get the policy came to nothing despite promise after promise.

Eventually got this at New Year 08/09 with a promise to give the next year free to compensate for problems.

Guess what - zilch. No reply to e-mails.

Went with Creditwest after checking against SD and Iktisat policies. Excellent customer service as with their banking.

breezyboy, I believe that back in 2008/9 Steve's domain name and email were down because whoever was looking after his website neglected to renew it. I'm not saying that was why you didn't get a reply but it might be worth checking the email you sent to with Steve's current email address.

To be honest the death by a thousand adverts is starting the wear a bit thin guys.

I think the moderators need to get a handle on this blatant abuse of the ability to bad mouth other businesses.

I for one will make a point of never buying insurance from anyone who advertises in such a manner.

Goodmorning Fivetins!

Sorry if we have confused you, but we only posted the fact that we are the 'New, British Agents' to have joined the team at Kibris sigorta.

We are only trying to assist people that may already have an existing policy with Kibris sigorta and in the event of a claim etc they now know how to contact us; also to reasure people that there is no problem with their policies after certain postings on this site may have alarmed people into thinking that their policy has not been paid for.

Hope you have a good weekend.

Many Thanks

I have closed this thread because it contains rumours and accusations which when challenged by both the membership and a Board Admin have gone unsubstantiated.

May I suggest that those wishing to ask questions on Insurance do so on a new thread
