One can only wonder how many more Porsche Cayennes, Hummers, Mercs and BMW's that EU grant will buy, to enable selected officials 'reasonable transport' to go and review the viability of desperately needed infrastructure projects?

The newspaper report says that 99% has been allocated. How much has actually arrived? How much has been attempted to be spent, but blocked by the RoC which continues to put pressure on any company or organisation with interests in the North.

Let's hope the money get's spent on what it's intended for

Many years ago, a weathly gulf state gave the TRNC money to build a three lande super highway from Girne to Lefkosa - the governemt built a cheap and dangerous 2 -lane road, and bought a fleet of new Mercedes for themselves, hence no more money from rich Muslim nations.

Well it did pay for the much needed cycle track in Girne. I expect this will be the subject of overload and jams in the summer. The very well intentioned bus shelters on the coast road are also a very tangible sign that things are in motion (I deliberately didn't say progress). Now we just have to wait for the bus.

Hey Mark ....

A few years ago there was a motorway built in UK .. called the M25 .. they're still building it ... can't be any good 'cos today there was a 40 mile tail back on the anti clock wise section ... and the guys who make all the decisions about the transport in UK are in Austria Ski-ing ...... true ......

If there is any government left after the sorry state of affairs with their expenses etc .... I think the TRNC are bloody angels compared to the sorry lot the UK have ....

As for the allocation ... the EU has just funded 2 million Euros for students to study abroad .... and the UK has just said they are reducing their spending on UK students by a few million pounds.. cut backs .... not enough to go round .... spent it all ...

does make you wonder .....

ps avoid junction 15 of the M25 tomorrow... if it snows ... Merry Xmas ...
