Well...i think i may be the odd one out here...i thought it was dreadful food! Cold and tasteless, and definitely not a traditional christmas dinner!!

starters was sushi..(dried out and tasteless)

main course was turkey over vegetables with rice and a drizzle of gravy. (served cold)

Not really my idea of a christmas dinner, however, i did have a great time, and there was an open bar!! Bumped into some folk i haven't seen in a looooong time...so, although the food was awful (service was great) the evening was still one of the nicest i've had in a while. Thank you Paul and Luba xx

I coudnt agree more with you daisy dukes.

I was very dissappointed with the food and the whole 'christmas dinner' this year! there was nothing christmassy about it not even crackers on the tables. oh except for 'santa' going around! I recommended this to my brotherin law and future wife, but they werent to thrilled with it. We managed to make up for it though, on the dance floor and then in the casino!

We went to the Mountain View for the first time and I have to say we had a fabulous 'traditional' Christmas dinner. The entire day and evening was great. With all drinks included until 11pm - with just a short break early evening, we found the whole experience great value for money and had a wonderful time.

we stayed xmas eve and xmas night at the merit hotel, the food was not as good as we would have liked. my biggest bug was cold plates to put hot food on, restaurant owners take note..also xmas ball did not offer traditional xmas fare, mostly cold food..some items on the menu were absent, many empty tables, possible bad organisation..room far too hot, ventilation not working. no locks on patio door. on the plus side staff were very good. would we recommend or go again - no!

My experience of the MERIT is excellent.

I have stayed in many hotels across the world.

The Merit is certainly up there with the best.

Excellent food, service, location and would recommend it.

In 2008 I lost my wallet with £600 cash inside. I had dropped it in foyer of the Merit. It was handed in to the hotel management.

Whole thing very well dealt with honestlly and correctly my the Hotel Manager and he returned my wallet to me sealed and recorded in the hotel day book.
