I have only just realised that Cyprus44 is back up and running.

Anyway, after having a fantastic meal at Guido's on Christmas day, we headed off home whistling the Great Escape theme music so we thought we would get out the bubbly and watch this wonderful all time movie (Oh no, not again; my husband groaned).

We switched everything on and lo and behold the vcr has stopped working ....... complete disappointment (well for me).

Now I need to know where I can go to get some old video's onto dvd, anyone know please?

Hi I have just been given for xmas a special machine that converts old VCR tapes to digital disks through the PC. I was given it so that I could convert all my old tapes of my family on to DVD.

I am in the UK at the moment, but would be happy to convert your film once I am back in the TRNC, which will be end Jan beginning of Feb, no exact date yet.

If this is helpful please give me a note of your email address and I can contact you directly when I'm home.

Regards

Carole

Dvd World, will do this for you, in Karaoglanoglu (just before 'Cod Baba'). They also sell the machine that converts......

Try them, good luck.

Scoobydoo, there was a DVD shop, can't recall the name, diagonally opposite Coffee World in the high street. They did lots of video to dvd copying for me, and did a first class job.

Yücell photo, in Girne, converts any format into DVD. Anyway, the cheapest option is to buy a copy per 5 TL...

Thank you Carole, if I get stuck I will take you up on your kind offer though it does look like there are plenty of options for me judging by the response.

Thank you everyone else, I will get myself down to these dvd shops, I may get to see my film on New Years Day!!

Option I would try first is just ask DVD shop if they have that movie.

But then you may have lots mor VCR's you may wish to convert. We bought a DVD recorder so we could convert all and also record all TV progs.

Msg 8,

Yes we have other video's we also want to convert but I didn't really want to buy a dvd recorder as we already have a dvd player with the surround sound system we have and I'm not sure that once we converted our video's that we would make full use of the cost of changing to a dvd recorder as I can't really see us recording any programmes from the tv over here, however I certainly take on board your point about asking in other dvd shops as that seems the way to go along with looking at the ones suggested above.

Many thanks

I have just been quoted between 10 and 15 TL to convert video's to dvd's, the price depends upon the length of the video.
