Hi cockneyjason, Are you a TC? I only ask as I read somewhere that only TRNC citizens can hold a gun/hunting licence. I stand to be corrected.

Agree with Spondoolics - I can see the attraction of target shooting but killing for pleasure as opposed to necessity is personally abhorrent to me.

Take a trip to Turkey and you can buy most guns across the counter with a foreign passport and cheap. How you get it into TRNC I'm not sure, but with licence in hand it should be okay. Richard

Jason, Ask at the British Armory on the Island. They must have a few spare rifles hanging around. I hope you eat what you shoot ?

Man is by nature a Hunter gatherer not a shopper and fast food eater, I like to go shooting and have done since I was 14 years old. I do not shoot anything I can not eat and I do not shoot more than I want to eat. When I get the opportunity that is which unfortunately has not been very often over the last few years I have tended to concentrate more on my Bass fishing. Mike

Paul It is normally a one day thing, unless i have a few friends and then we would camp out and eat over the fire what we caught in the daytime. Why? Are you a hunter...

Best advice is to take plenty of tucker with you on your hunting trips, otherwise you'll do a starve; because there's b'-all left in Cyprus to shoot - never mind worth shooting! Oh, and light a fire in any shooting area in Cyprus and you're liable to get yourself arrested - you'll likely get your expensive firearm confiscated for good, as well! Ever tried to eat a Cyprus Hare? Here's the recipe: Put hare in a gallon pot and add one axe-head. Let simmer for 8 hours. When cooked, throw hare out of the kitchen window, or in your case, down the gully, and eat the axe-head!

Went shooting once here 6 years ago and never again. Walked through brambles and ravines for hours and never saw a thing, just wanted to die through exhaustion, and nearly had that wish when some hunters coming the other way decided to shoot through the trees directly at us. We had to dive down to avoid the shot. There is no wonder that every year a few get seriously hurt or killed. Best to get a chicken from the supermarket.
