Have seen clotted cream and fresh cream in the South but I think it was Christmas time, but have you tried mascarpone, can be found in most supermarkets except Lemar and is the best substitute I have found. The added bonus is that it can be used as sweet or savory but a dollop on a home made scone - divine. ;-)

Tried IIleli market, Atakara and Starling but no luck, there is not a drop of mascarpone in sight. Tempo maybe last resort. What type of container does it come in and where would it be situated in the market.

Thanks

I bought it in Illeli at the back where the cheese is and it comes in a round plastic container with lid just like in the UK but that was in December. Hur Deniz sell it but it is double the standard size and I bought one once from there and it cost 20tl !!! I nearly fell over at the till but paid for it !!! I have also bought it from Supreme on the Catolkoy Road. I use some when I make a tomato sauce for the pasta.

Does it say mascarpone on the lid, I know a stupid question but it may be a different name on the container. Slowly giving up on the scone craving they will work out £2 each with the petrol I am using. LOL.

Thanks anyway.

tarry, it's a white tub, 250g with blue writing around it on the top it says alpilatte (the make I presume) then in large yello letters mascarpone and a picture of strawberries and cream. I have a 1/4 tub in front of me. I also bought mine in Erdeners but have seen it in Supreme and Tempo's.
