I have just asked the Land Registry Office of Famagusta about the discounts which expired at the end of 2009 and unfortunately it has not been extended.

Spanna,

Its a fine art to know whom to trust or not

The Constructors Association are asking the government to extend it for at least another six months and also to readjust the normal figure to more reasonable levels. In the meantime, they are calling their members to boycott any transfer of property.

I'd agree with Ismet. I posted only yesterday on another thread about this subject. I was told only yesterday that it had been reduced until 31/03/10, but it seems that the information may be duff. I'd previously heard the same from another source & this came direct from an advocate in Girne just before Christmas.

At the end of the day, I'd agree with the Constructors Association call. I'm sure that the reductions over the last year have greatly swelled the Government's tax receipts.

I am just in the process of transferring title, and my advocate says there is a ministers meeting tomorrow to decide on extending discount period for another 6 months. She says that most advocates seem to think the discount period will definately be extended, but being North Cyprus, who knows. She will confirm to me one way or another tomorrow, so I'll report back what she says.

If the government wanted to raise some serious revenue, they should offer kocans to all those with registered contracts who have PTB.

The buyer would then pay the VAT and transfer tax, and the goverment could send tax bills to all the builders who are currently unable/unwilling to transfer deeds as they should be.

A simple way of sorting out the deeds mess, and filling government coffers at the same time - what could be better for everyone (except dishonest builders)?

Mark (msg. 8),

I am sure you are not serious. If ever the government (read politicians) decide on disputes between buyers and vendors without recourse to courts, it will be a real nightmare.

If there is a problem, let the builder take the customer to court after the deeds are issued.

It's about time the "customer" in the TRNC had the benefit of doubt for a change

About time they scrapped this PTP injustice altogether.

Mark .

This would be a real eye opener if you could find a buyer with doubt , why would you say it is about time |?

There is no PTP requirement in EU countries. But lots of other inquiries, like the money you are spending is actualy YOURS.

Some of you would know what I mean by that!!
