Our ex neighbours from Yorkshire would eat Christmas cake with a piece of cheddar, they had a saying

"Christmas cake without some cheese, is like a kiss without a squeeze"

It does actually taste rather good together

In the Isle of Man all the fish and chip shops sell chips, grated cheese and gravy. I think it is horrible but lots of people seem to like it!

Ryvita with mayonnaise and marmite! Toasted teacakes with butter and marmite Chilli and chocolate - may seem odd but if it was good enough for the Mayans to cook with who am I to buck the trend?!

Are you sure it was chedder they ate with their xmas cake? I think it would be Wensleydale it being a yorkshire cheese. A piece of xmas cake, a piece of Madiera cake, a slab of Wensleydale cheese and a drop of Madiera wine is the norm up North over the festive season.

I think No1Doyen is telling porkie's

Try two Scottish plain loaf enders filled with...

Tripe, cut to fit bread,

syrup, sprinkled with "hundreds & thousands"

Mackeral fillet sprinkled with cinnamon,

then top it off with brussel sprouts with pineapple and custard.

Wrap in cling film,

then pop in microwave for 45 seconds.

Peel back cling film and enjoy.

Washed down with Cinzano Extra Dry

Yum Yum Yum
