There is a book outside the door now that you have to put your name in,get there early.About 8.15am a bloke comes out and reads your name from the book and gives you a number. The office where you paid your money last year is now a waiting room and there is a counter on the wall so you can keep an eye on what number is next. The office where you pay your money is now further up the corridor marked VESNE.

Do get there early as my parents got there yesterday at 8am and didnt get served until 3.20pm! Such a long day. The earlier the better as you will be closer to the top of the list.

Good luck

We went on Monday and arrived (late) at 0845 and were numbers 44/45/46! The place does not open til 0830. Lunch is 12.00-13.45 so the actual office is closed but the waiting room stays open. We left and went for lunch and came back again. Stamps have gone up to 7.10TL which I got in the cafeteria there. Once inside the hallowed halls it was quite straight forward and relatively quick, its just the waiting times. Oh, the cost is no TL185 per person. Hope this helps.

I think it varies from day to day. I know someone who went yesterday too. They were nos. 47 & 48 I think. They also had to wait until the afternoon. Other friends went before Christmas & had no trouble at all. I would definitely avoid Mondays.

Also the "Civil" (not) servants are not to happy with the Government at the moment & are probably working to rule. ie much slower than normal. How can it take so long to process 40 odd passport stamps? The residency permission has been granted by this stage. What they have to do is not rocket science & should only take a few minutes per person. How many behind the counters & working these days.

I've always found the cashiers quite efficient in comparison.

We went tuesday and arrived at 9.15am .We also put our name in the book against number 59 but when the man came along with the tickets 5 minutes later , he advised us that the book "finished" and gave us our tickets - 72 and 73. We were dealt with at 15.00pm. Most of the people (Turkish I think) being seen to were for work permits and only about 5 British couples for residency.Only 3 people behind counter. Cost was 185TL plus 7 TL for stamps each.
