Message 1 of 33 in Discussion

This afternoon I accepted a SMS invitation from Nigel Watson to discuss our problem. (Done in the spirit of msg 1 in this thread: http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/28807.asp ). We talked about it at Jessic's and decided that from today there is no problem. The past is the past. We both will not start hostilities. It's that easy.

Does this mean that all the things you've cancelled, will be re-instated....?

msg 1, it's almost always that easy, Hans. As someone once said "jaw, jaw is better than war, war".

Well done! This is exactly how things should be worked out, or is that just me being hysterical?

RE msg 13, mikelapta: (...) PS Did the Dutch ever win a war? (...)

=> Not that I remember, Mike. As all British know (or are convinced of) the Dutch politicians, backed by the Army High Command (one General + 20 soldiers), usually start to negotiate with the enemy (but not in the week end: Unions! and the privacy rights of Dutch soldiers!), because they want to find out if any money can be made out of the disturbing hostilities. If not, the Dutch surrender without one shot being fired (bullets cost money!) and then make money on goods delivered to the conquering enemy. When the Dutch are liberated by friendly Allies they make money on goods delivered to the Allies. Bl**dy stupid people in the Rhine delta, but life ain't bad in the Low lands...

P.S. Oh! I suddenly remember: please Google "Michiel de Ruyter, Chatham, England".

It takes a good man to say sorry, in this case 2 good men. May the peace last and people learn from this that things can be worked out by talking.

It appears to me that Nigel has been surprised at the depth of feeling his persecution of Hans has caused. I hope he has apologised and really will put all his nasty spitefulness away and learn from this to become a better man. Good luck to both of them.

Message 21 - AJ.

At the risk of being called an old cynic (which I suppose I am) I am inclined to agree. Like you, I am willing to be proven wrong.

Did anyone else notice the message posted on here this afternoon by 'new member' "Dawoo" by any chance?

RE msg 7 & 22, daisy dukes: (...) Does this mean that all the things you've cancelled, will be re-instated....? (...)

=> Sorry, I missed msg 7. The answer is no. And what I do will be done in silence if possible. I'll call you tomorrow morning (Friday). OK?
