http://uk.finance.yahoo.com/currencies/converter/?amt=1&from=GBP&to=TRY&submit=Convert#from=GBP;to=TRY;amt=1

£1.00 = 2.3381 at 20:25 TR time, 08/01/10.

Now, we'll get all the usual incorrect responses relating to TL going down, (and therefore being worth less!!!).

I am happy to see TL strengthen against the pound but for a lot of people in NC who have to convert a sterling pension into TL this is not such good news.

Looks like the signing of a new deal with the IMF is iminent, if/when it happens you could see it go further.

Its not just the pound the lira euro rate has dropped from up t 2.3 to 2.1 over the last few weeks so there must be some current strength in the TL now.

As to why have no idea.
