OK folks...it looks the website for this will be ready quite soon...yay...

As a lot of you know i have been trying to get together a website whereby volounteers can put their details on offering a fostering system for unwanted animals. I realise that a lot of people would love to have a pet but circumstances make it impossible for them to do this, so i thought that maybe fostering system would be a good idea. The idea is people can either offer help or ask for help.

I am now wishing to hear from people who would be willing to offer help by offering temporary homes. Also i would be grateful for any stories and anecdotes and maybe even someone would like to write a kind of monthly/weekly newsletter. Photo's of before and after adopting pets would be welcome too. This is quite a big job i am attempting, and i have absolutely no faith in my abilities to do this...so any and all help will be greatly appreciated and certainly needed! Email ideas to pr966@me.com or cont....

This is something that will be addressed...as i said, i am looking for many ideas and solutions, this is just the start...maybe we can work with KAR on the premise, if an animal has had say 6 months to a year of fostering, they take it in, no questions asked...but as i said, this is only the beginning, and when i decide to have the meeting, i hope that you and many others will be able to spare a couple of hours and offer opinions and ideas.

Great idea, well done - I hope it goes well. Not there yet, but when I come over I will see what I can do to help - already have a dog which I am bringing over.

Why are you bringing a dog here when you know that there are hundreds here looking for homes?

Enavelperson, perhaps its because its her own pet of many years! Perhaps she is more responsable to be taking her dog with her than leaving it on the streets of GB! Please can I ask why does every one have to answer to a few on this forum, if you read her post she says she is going to nhelp,.... now I will ask a question, do you help?

This is a good idea but it should definitely be run in tandem with KAR otherwise you will find yourself at odds with that they do. They are not perfect, none of us are, but they do an excellent job and anything that makes the lives of the animals better has to be a good idea.

I totally agree with you CarrieRbag....once this website has been tweaked enough to go live, i shall be trying to organise a meeting for everyone to come along with ideas on how it should be run...once we've found suitable solutions, i shall attempt a meeting with KAR to see how we can all work together.

I know this is taking some time to put together...but rest assured, i am doing my best.

Dizzycows Msg 10

I asked this question of Katymackem not you.

The very short answer to your question is " NO " (please note That I speak for myself not others)

Dear Hans

She's got the money. Can't leave her roaming the streets spending it! Have said hello to her from you and she thanks you. You are favoured by this reply because yesterday pm she got a brand new computer, and since then I've only heard the odd mutter like, "fastest thing without wheels", "captures positrons and quarks",

"wouldn't swop it for a Mac" etc. etc.

Hi Lilli, now you are answering for him!! exnavelperson! exactly what I did for Katymackem!! and I know she has an elderly dog that she would not leave behind in her move to NC. Plus she also helps to raise money for good causes... Sorry Katymackem for also sticking up for you.

Hope you soon find somewhere for the dogs, but it is some thing that is always going to be around unfortunatly,

My boy only tolerates other dogs for a short while, so can't foster - so sorry! But I will deffo support with donation of dog food (tinned or dried - as needed) but as you know DD I don't approve of that myself ha ha I am raw food fanatic!!!! (never feed my dog anything but raw meat and bones, no chocs or biscuits - never eaten tinned or dried food ever) but thats me, but I can boast my dog has the cleanest teeth on the Island!! Unless there is anyone else that follows the B.A.R.F ( Bones And Raw Food) diet for dogs? If any one is interested in this very cheap and successful diet for dogs - please ask - I am absolutely passionate about it!!

Tarry...Proger was being sarcastic...that's all. Proger is one of the people that knows exactly how hard i've been working on this idea, and is also excited that it's almost ready. He also understands the need for positivity...keep the negative stuff till we are able to come up with solutions.

OK guys,

Here it is, yes I was being sarcastic because Hippo did what Hippo almost always bloody does, be negative, the first thing that pops into his mind is what can I find wrong with that.

This thread was asking people for help as that is the only way the system works and in answer to your question Hippo, "It is fostering, which means you look after the pet when someone goes on holiday or possibly even has to go to the hospital for a short while so its pretty obvious how you can give it back.

There will always be a requirement for re-homing dogs and that will also be a possibility on the site.

I suppose I should have phrased my statement better, I didn't think my sarcasm would have caused an argument.

Good luck with it all DD, I am sure you know I am behind you if nobody else does.

Hi Chris, as simbas realised, I took ideas from pfss site which is scotland based and I missed that error.

Ironicly of the 422 page views on the site yours is the only comment.

No e-mails about anyone who needs the service or offers of assistance. So I am sure you will forgive me for losing interest in the site that I am still trying to explain to my wife why I spent so much time on not to mention the money spent to register and open a server.

If anyone has need of the service, its there. If not it is now just a hole in cyberspace.

Hi Paul,

I did suspect you had something to do with the site when I saw the Scotland link but didn't want to make it public knowledge, just in case I was wrong. Well done its looking good.

Hope all well with you and the family.

I am not sure if it was detective work or the fact that on another thread I told DD to put down my alternate e-maill address as one of the contacts and you are one of only a few that knows that address is me.

I also didn't want it publicised that I was creating the site, mainly in case I totally screwed it up, scottish pride and all that. There were other reasons but that is another story.

Although the site is live, it is not registered on any search engines as yet because the content is not relevent to anything in North Cyprus yet. I was hoping to get some pet info or potential foster carers to add but as already mentioned have had nothing.

Maybe this being arisen from the dead might help.

This is DD's idea and I believe a very good one however she can't do it alone and we can't keep relying on Lilli to help all the pets out.

RE msg 43, daisy dukes: I shall not quote from personal emails. But I remember you talking about the fostering idea somewhere in June/July 2009. From that moment on I offered you to help or come to the proposed meeting with other interested people. I stick to my words in message 40.

P.S. Why wouldn't I write about your "Kyrenia animal fostering site/idea" in a thread you started yourself?!

Well, again, as i said before....read msg 1...it quite clearly says i need help....as it turns out only 2 other people actually offered any help, hence why it is taking so long. You didn't offer help till much later...and even then i didn't get your email...again as i have already said...! If you simply do need to keep having me repeat myself over and over, why not call me instead, all you are doing is turning something that could be good into something extremely negative...to a point whereby i almost want to cancel tomorrows interview.

AJ i thnk this has been addressed.

=> Then how did you know? I'll refresh your memory: because we talked about it at Guido's terrace in mid-summer. And I still think it's a good idea, but something should be DONE and that is promotion of a meeting for interested people on this board. And then organise this meeting. Just my opinion and that's why I keep the thread/idea in the spotlights.

Hans

I do not think anything more on the subject matter will be resolved via this board. I am sure all of the relevant posters have e-mail, mobile phone contacts etc. If this fostering scheme ever comes to fruition then I am sure that the Cyprus44 forum would be happy to make any positive announcement on the board as a 'sticky'
