I am now so very desperate and very upset. A friend of mine went to see KAR to explain my prediciment. Two Words No Room. I even offered to place them there and pay to foster to no avail. The situation has become so bad with the strays as the other shops are very scared they are loosing buisness. I understand this. It was suggested that i take them somewhere in the hope they can be community fed. Its now a matter of time before they are poisioned or shot. KAR suggested maybe take them back to Alsancak in the hope they get fed, they would find thier way back to me. I have until tomorrow. Im so upset. can anybody take them even short time please until i can find a solution. I just do not understand this poloicy

If you take them anywhere Liz they say leave them near an army barracks, as they seem to feed the strays, well they do with the one near me, anything's worth a try

Sheila I have cried a river today. Thanks for the advice. I do not want them shot. I have just spoken to my vet who told me to inform the police and tell them they were put back by KAR and they will make KAR take them. I really dont want to cause animosity but I will explore all angels. I totally understand my neigbours but they dont understand KARs poloicy of putting them back on the street, so Im banging my head. I just cant have thier death on my hands.its 9 weeks today since Max died xxx

Lilli,

its not KAR's fault....

they are swamped out with peoples unwanted animals....

and with few being actually being re-homed, the situation is very unlikely to change...

"sad but true" as me old mate Lars would say...

However negative Nick may sound, he is right. The sad fact is that KAR is on overload and everyone expects them to do the impossible. The street neutering scheme was to ensure that street dogs would die out as they coluld no longer breed. But that leaves a generation with the problem, as Lilli has found.

Unfortunately BARK never made it, or Lilli could take them over to Bogaz, and there appears to be no other option other than what KAR suggests, namely to return them to a community where they will be fed by the community (on the assumption that the community wants to), but failing anyone relieving Lilli of the dogs which is affecting her life and the lives of those around her - can someone come up with a sensible option.

Much as it hurts, at the moment Lilli has no choice. Put them somewhere else in the hopes they are fed. These street dogs DO survive - statistics prov e it. And, harsh though it also seems, Lilli, this could happen again and again, so you must BE STRONG.

And now what we all want to know if what decision Lilli has been forced to make.

I have left them under my table on the patio for the night. will let you know.

They really are a loveable couple, and I know how you feel. They are happy to curl up alongside my Dudu, and I wish I could take them, but I can't and that is that. And we ALL understand how difficult it is on your neighbours as well as you. Maybe the biggest problem is that whenever anyone has a marshmallow heart full of compassion there is a cost.

Look forward to hearing how hard hearted you can be for tghe sake of others! Cos that is what it boils down to - unless there is a miracle. They DO happen!

I have said before, I know it is a long shot - but have you put their pictures on every website - including on the Greek side? someone may just take one or both...........there really must be a cull - there is no other answer - it will take decades for feral neutered dogs to die out, something will have to happen before then.....I am astonished the Government don't just do it - give a week's notice to all and sundry to keep their pets home on a set day, then just round up every animal they find and dispose of them........sad, but a relief to all, including most of the sick, hungry, cold and desperate animals themselves.........

I love animals but living here for several years you do have to become tough with yourself and close the door on the dogs that appear on your doorstep otherwise it never ends. If a local knows you are an animal lover then be prepared for a few puppies dumped at your gate at some stage. Dogs do survive its their nature as much as it hurts too see these poor creatures. Some strays I must say look better than some that are tied up all day in some muddy garden with a water tank as a bed.

Hi Lilli

There is a dog rescue shelter in Nicosia may be worth trying them, you can get the details by just putting

Nicosia dog shelter in to your computer, wish you luck.

Let them go Lilli. They may have more chance of being taken on by someone not on the forum if you do. I know its heart breaking but you have to be cruel to be kind. I SO wish I could take them but there will be more along next week..and when they turn up, get two saucepan lids bang 'em together, shout and holler and then close the door.

Well Lilli - some would say that as you have taken them on it would now be unfair of you to put them back on the street. I say, if you can't do it, have someone who can take them back to the Castle pub area and walk away and resolve to only feed dogs away from your home and restaurant. Harsh words maybe but you know you've tried your very best.x

Hi Yorkie I never took them in. They hang around all the units in our block. they appeared xmas day and my lovely customers fed them.I admit to feeding them and trying to get them fostered by KAR which i offered to pay for. I do not want to put them back on the street but afraid that one of my neighbours will call the police and they will be shot. I have tried to rehome them to no avail. I will now ignore any dog that comes into the restaurant as i have lived on my nerves . If I take them back to the Castle Pub area I think they will come back. They are not harsh words yorkie they are truthful words. x I have just taken my dogs for a walk down the beach and found a dead puppy. i do not want that for any animal.

Hi Liz. I have been to Lemar and bought some dog food. I am looking forward to Dylan arriving tomorrow. Only wish I could offer him a permanent home, but am happy to foster him while I am here. If someone still wants to adopt him permanently, I will be very pleased, but will do my best when I am here.
