| Hi Rosie, A few residents that could afford to do it, decided to rent out here for a year or so while they looked at the property market before making a decision. They normally rent long term for £300 - £500 pcm in Cyprus and rent their own property in the UK at the going rate for the area trhe property is located, this rental income can in some cases help pay off the remainder of the mortgage and pay towards the Cyprus rental costs. Once you are happy with the property market in the UK you can put it on the market and hopefully once sold buy your dream home out here, could turn out to be the property that you rented for a year is the property you buy!! Good luck, brave decisions, I hope all goes well and you make the right one. |

| rosie123, You are thinking along the right lines of testing before buying as it were. Then there is the other route which we took!!!!!! An accumulation of events made is reasses what life was all about. Worked out the finances and with one Ill health pension plus interest from the sale of our house in England we decided to act. Checked around all the web sites etc, decided on a couple of options we liked here, flew out and withing 3 days had bought. Nine months later we moved here lock stock and barrel. Yes we are having builders problems but would we change, not on your life!!!!! We have been here 2.5 years and have never had one regret. The builder drives us crazy over delays, the system you have to get used to it or you go crazy but we do not work any more and have all the time in the world so just get on with life. |

| Kavenkoy,i take it that you have young children,my two sons are now grown up and have children of there own, there lies the problem,we are not certain if we could be that far away from them,in truth we would more then likely see more of them ,they pop into see us for ten minutes and off they go,but in Cyprus, there visits would one week or more of quality time, more the grandchildren who are changing all the time Cyprusishome, really pleased for you that life has turned around for the better,as you say,you just get on with life. Wish2rent,thank you for those kind words Ive,thanks for your reply, not that a cheaper potatoe would sway me as regards giving up my home in the UK,but you seem more then happy, thats what it is all about, good luck . | hi guys like ive has said the brits who have remained in the u.k are the brave ones not just for the rat race but also the crime rate seems to be increasing all i hear near enough every day this person got shot that person got stabbed but what a lot of people do is jump in head first and move hook line and sinker which sometimes is a good thing but sometimes this can be bad cos a lot of people come over to cyprus for long holidays and think they can recreate what they had on holiday to living in cyprus, my best advice to anyone which has been mentioned before is rent out here first and also do it in the winter so you get a general feel for the place not just in the summer when the place is buzzing!! places like turkey and cyprus there has been a influx of expats moving out there and im not being stereo typical its not like spain or france where everything is enlishified if you dont intergrate in to turkish life like what most expats do in spain you will find it very hard to settle in places like turkey and cyprus cos the lifestyle is very diffrent to these kind of places so my final words to you rosie is give it a try belive you me you have nothing to loos and if it dont work out at least you have had a good experiance!!! warm regards to all ukturk |

| my kids are growing (12,16,17yrs old) ...younger lives with her mum . i would go out tomorrow no problems ,could adapt to life anywhere .problem is kids . when they have "learned their trades" they can make up their own minds ,and will make a life in uk for themselves or elsewhere . we have the selfish elament for me only ,i said i would go out in ten years at max ,unless life changing circumstances happen .that way i can say kids got their lifes now its time for me .that wouls make me 51 kav |
