TRNC Foreign Minister Huseyin Ozgurgun has criticized the Greek Cypriot Side for its uncompromising attitude at the Cyprus negotiation process. The Minister said that the Turkish Side will remain at the table to show to the whole world that the reason behind the failure to achieve the desired progress at the talks is the Greek Cypriot Side’s uncompromising and stiff stance at the negotiations.

I'm glad that TRNC Foreign Minister Huseyin Ozgurgun has come out with this statement. It'll make a few people sit up and take notice.

If (when) the talks fail (I pray that they do) then it is essential that the North is not held to blame. If the South is clearly seen to be the cause of failure then Turkey's promised push for recognition of TRNC will stand a much better chance.

So the North must stick it out and not be the first to walk away no matter how intransigent the South are. However, it worries me that they might if Talat loses the presidency.
