Please can you recommend the nicest Turkish yoghurt here please? There seems to be so many to choose in the supermarkets. One that I can use to accompany a dessert, or use in cooking instead of creme fraiche. Many thanks.

I used to always use Suzme Yoghurt. You can add fruit or jam to it to make a dessert or use it in cooking. Great served with Lamb dishes. Its a thicker yoghurt.

Suzme is also the fattiest, so no good if you're watching the diet! Mis is good, and also the newish one that is being sold in glass jars, Seren village yoghurt is really nice.

ı have heard (but not tried - as I don't like yoghurt) that straining the low fat stuff makes it thick and "creamy"?

The Seren in the glass jar is lovely but don't really want to end up with loads of jars so usually buy the normal Seren or Mis. If you find your yoghurt going watery my best tip is to smooth it over after you have taken a dollop and then it doesn't go watery at all.

The Mis yoghurt is definately good !!!! I was told not to eat the low fat yoghurt as it less of the beneficial qualitites that does contain ( also the diet ones are much more watery ) go for a good suzme yoghurt and just have a slightly smaller helping!!!!

Look out for the garlic flavoured yoghurt. I bought some just to try and it is definitely an acquired taste so do not pick it up by mistake! AJ
