Only 10.000 tickets for the supporters of the next World Champion! I can't believe it. It's discrimination.

Hans. Message 3. Holland the next World Champions!

What sport are we talking about here, certainly not football. They won't even get into the semi-finals. )

Hans,

Your sudden interest in football worries me.. I fear the walk on Sunday may just be a tour around the bars of Girne to discover who does the cheapest pint and has the best TV for watching sport........? Maybe you are turning English??

When is the Dutch country called Holland or (The) Netherlands?

I remember the difference between England, the UK, GB, Britain.

RE msg 21, Texas: The official name of the country is "Koninkrijk der Nederlanden" (Kingdom of the Netherlands), short: 'the Netherlands' (Nederland) or 'Holland' (Holland). However the country is usually called Holland in English speaking countries - strange, because in Holland we use Nederland and seldom Holland. Holland probably originates from 'hollow land' or 'low land' (I used to live in Haarlem, which is 10 metres below sea level and only protected by huge dikes, in future please mind the spelling of dikes...). Are you still with me..?

Now for the language, you call it 'Dutch', we call our language 'Nederlands'. Why do English speaking people call it Dutch? It's probably a bastardised form of 'Deutsch', which is German for the German language. Easy, ain't it..?

Summary (because you will hear a lot about the next World Champion football 2010 ): I am from 'Nederland' and I speak 'Nederlands' (Netherlands in your language and not Dutch!).

Hans.

going back a few years I was playing trivial pursuit with some "Army" friends and the question had something to do with you home land. I answered Holland and got the question wrong because the answer on the card was the Netherlands. Yes they were that petty!!!!

Henrik, you just wait till the South Africans see the Dutch team play the first match... They'll run for tickets! As we all know the locals in SA are very rich people (especially in the suburbs...) and they don't care to pay a couple of hundred Rand for a ticket... :-(

DC,

The lack of tickets for the world cup affects all the teams the majority of the tickets have been sold to the business sector for cooperate boxes and private areas, as they will make the organisers more money than selling them to the public.

A disgrace, Greed wins again
