Hi can anyone help with swimming pool pump. When I switch the machinery on all I get is a strange buzz, the pump does not come on! Can anyone reccomend an honest trustworthy person to come and have a look at it. We are based in Esentepe. My email is eforret@hotmail.com. Thanks.

Try taking the end off and spin the fan as it sounds as though it is sticking, perhaps this will release it.

The more you switch it on the more you are likely to damage it.

Has it been in water(flooding)at any point? If it has, there is water in it,which could burn it.I suggest to take it off and get it seen.

ps.If you are going to take it off, please dont forget to turn all the walves OFF.

Cheapest way, if you can remove the pump, take it to "Press Tecknic" on tha main road Lapta , and get them to look at it

It sounds like it may be the starter capacitor that is usually located under the square plastic cover on top of the pump. If you can take the pump fan cover off, sometimes the screws are seized, check to see if the pump is free by turning the fan. If ok turn on the power to the pump and carefully spin the fan, watch your fingers, if the pump runs it is likely to be the capacitor.

Like MiketheBike says, your problem is most likely to be bad connections on the capacitor (starter) - that cylindrical gizmo! Clean the connectors and before closing its housing, spray on some WD40 - or you could smear on a bit of vaseline - good for chilblains.....and chaps, too!

Hi jambo,

Sounds like the motor could be jammed.

Can happen if your pump room is very damp.

If you can take the plastic end cover off, unplug at mains 1st!!!

Try to spin cooling fan, once free run motor for a few hours, this could dry it out.

If it will not spin, motor could be seized :-(

Murat @ Esentepe Pools has repaired mine in the past, still running after 2 years

Good luck,

Navek
