I am looking for 3 books that I would like to read and was just wondering if it might be possible to set up a book swap page on here, like the For Sale section. I expect the moderators will tell me whether it might be possible.

Any way I am looking for the following and if anyone has copies of any of them and is willing to sell them or swap for something else I would be very grateful. I do go to the market at Lambousa on Saturdays and scout the book stalls but so far had no luck in finding in them as they are quite new.

1. Her fearful Symmetry Audrey Niffenegger

2. Too close to home Linwood Barclay

3. The Almost Moon Alice Sebold.

The lastest books (2009) that I have that someone might be interested in reading are

1. The 19th Wife David Ebershoff

2. The Piano Teacher Janice Y.K Lee

Perhaps you could email me if you have any of the above books.

Many thanks

Karen

Sorry I don't have any of these books but have you tried Kyrenia library? They are open from 10am - 12 noon on Wednesdays and Saturdays and have a good variety of books. Lots donated from holidaymakers by the looks of things so quite a few new titles and in good condition.

Try Ozankoy Bookshop, ask for Barbara, she will help you.

Thanks for your replies I have been to the book shop on several occasions and I have also been to the library in the past (not recently I must admit). I know that there is a very popular book swapping web site in the UK and thought it would be a nice idea to give it a try here. I personally have a lot of books, which I will be donating to the ladies who have the charity stall at Lambousa, but I am sure that there must be others out there who are looking for specific books they fancy reading but havent been able to locate here.

I run a book exchange here in the south, will have a look this afternoon to see if I have the above listed books, if I have we're always popping to the north at least every fortnight.

Thanks Carollynne..that would be great. Do you operate from a shop, if so where is it, as I do come over to the south sometimes? If not I would be very interested in emailing you to see how it works to try something similar here. Thanks again. Karen

Msg 5. It is just behind the main post office in Girne. On the right hand side of the post office(left hand side of the law courts) there is an alley that you can walk down and you will find the library ahead to the left hand side.

Personally I have given all my unwanted books to the library and thus everybody can read them. It is run by volunteers and costs just 15tl per annum to join - the cost of a single paperback in the UK. I see no need at all for a book exchange.

I think that it is a brilliant idea, especially as the library which jovial john thinks that we should use is only open whilst I am at work and therefore unable to use it! Maybe the library could also open at the weekends so everyone could go!

Re Msg 7, Hi Karen, I'm about 10 minutes from Larnaca Airport, in a village called Pervolia, I have an internet centre and have got the book exchange at the back of the shop. Very quiet at the mo, but if you need any details or more info, please feel free to email me

Just had a look to see if the books are here and unfortunately haven't got any of them, although I've also read No Time for Goodbye and thought it was brilliant.

Thanks Pogle, I was not aware that is was open at the weekend. I thought it was only during the week! I would be grateful if anyone could confirm times as it would be a godsend.

All three of your books are available as ebook editions for download, which might be an option for you.

I have been using a ebook reader for a few months now (sony prs500) and despite being pretty sceptical originally I actually find it very useable. The real advantage of using an ereader and ebooks when living in north cyprus is availability of books. With the ereader I can now buy and start reading new books within minutes that would be impossible to find in north cyprus otherwise. Not all books are available in ebook format for purchase but most are and it wont be long before pretty much all are. Not the cheapest 'soloution' going but if having access to new books is important to you worth considering in my opinion.

Tinkie,

Firstly, sorry for the delay in getting back to you as I am not sure when the forum was up and running again.

I am so sorry but I thought I had the 2nd book but I don't, I must have lent it to someone but if I can track it down i will post a message for you.
