Took our friends mack to Larnaca for their flight yesterday, luckily we set off early as we intended to stop off on way but wasnt possible, the queues of cars tailed back to money exchange on North side and thru immigration upto Greek police checks. Only 1 police woman checking and taking her time with every single one. (wind up merchants). Bet they were revelling in it. Noo excuse for not putting an extra body on to help, they were all sat on their bums inside.

Its a good job Mindy that you set out early, they dont hurry for no one at the Greek police check point, you would think they could see the queue's getting longer and put a few others on to help

Smithy

You are correct

If we choose Larnaca we have to put up with the silly antics, unfortunately we can't all afford flights from Ercan.

We left Karsiyaka at 12.00 midday and reached Larnaca at 2.50pm

Was that Trevor and Jen?

Hope you all had a good Christmas and New Year. Been trying to get in touch but assumed you must be off-line or in UK. x

Re-Mess 2,

I have always found it much cheaper to fly into Larnaca.Although i have done Ercan as well.I would much prefer to land at Ercan every time as my apartment is only 20 minutes drive from there, but its to expensive. And sitting on a motionless plane on a runway for 45 minutes is a real bind,

Paul.

Sounds like you might be better going via Pyla if it's going to take that long to go via Metehan especially for those East of Girne. It only takes about an hour from Esentepe to Larnaca going that way.

Surely the 45 min on a motionless plane in Turkey is no worse than the hassle of getting from Larnaca?

I have found queues always develop when a young female is on duty.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I am afraid that you get queues going both ways - anyone who has tried coming back to the North at around 3.30pm will vouch for this. In the end, customs (on both sides) have a job to do and from time to time, both sides apply the laws a bit more stringently than normal.

Best bet is to try and avoid the peak periods i.e. when people are going/returning from work.

Whenever we cross north to south and back again it is always the women on both sides that cause the problems, why I do not know.

Customs wasnt the problem, it was the passport and Kimlik cards check, with only 1 police woman doing the checks and taking her time about it
