so far, with only 17 votes in, the poll is divided roughly equally between those with assets in the UK and are worried, those who don't have UK assets and those who don't think the loss of the Orams case will be the start of other cases. Interestingly one voter believes they have had pre-1974 British title property legally transferred into their names. This could have only taken place pre-1974, which of course could have been the case.

With 34 votes in, only 24% of the polled property owning respondents are worried that an Orams loss might affect them.

You obviously haven't been reading some of the leaks. The two sides already have the results and Cyprus Mail has already started the ball rolling with this article http://www.cyprus-mail.com/cyprus/uk-court-could-re-refer-orams-case-ecj/20100116

Pipie,

We are not concerned about our property in the TRNC but a ruling in the Greek Cypriots favour could mean our UK properties are at risk and it is these we are concerned about. Cannot see the British Government or the military doing anything to protect these.

Perhaps the TRNC government will take the TC deeds were given in exchange for our properties and offer them to the GC as compensation if they take us to court in the UK. If the GC refused then we could ask the court for time to pay until the TC deeds have been converted to cash when the GC government allows it - or a dozen other ideas the GCs won't let happen because GCs are currently occupying the TCs property in the south

I am a little confused (aren't I always!) that Candounas knows the outcome and yet the decision is tio be made known tomorrow! How come Candounas knows and the Orams don't? Why should the Greek sidee know and yet not ours? And if there was a leak, surely that is oiut of order?

Oh well, all willbe revealed tomorrow.

I keep reading that property in the UK is at risk depending on the outcome tomorrow.

The court action only applies to property in England and Wales. Property in Scotland and N Ireland are not included in any court action so our properties are safe for the time being because we have independant legal systems

Even if the judgement goes against us nobody is going to do anything as the legal costs involved in taking anyone to court are prohibitive and would make the exercise pointless.

STALEMATE !

Which is where Cyprus has been for the last 36 years and probably the next 36 with so much intransigence on both sides.

Good point, as the beatles said its a "Long and Winding Road" win lose or draw i dont think it will make much difference in the short term. Plenty of time to sell our properties to the Germans.........

Why worry about your UK property, just give back the trnc property - if that's the bottom

line.

Interesting, the wording of the notice has been altered in the last 48 hours or so to include a "cross appeal", don't know what this means but both parties would have been informed of the result some days ago.

Bill Barnacle, you make a very good point about whether the Orams are staying home or going out to celebrate.

I am sure most remember the photographs of the Oram's legal team celebrating with champagne when they won the last round?

They were posted all over the internet - used by many TRNC estate agents to reassure potential Brit buyers.

Hatty, the changes now make this notice the same as the original notice, see msg39, http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/25876.asp . Looks like they might have messed up and corrected their mistake.

Both sides legal teams get the result the day before (Today) but are not allowed to tell anyone (including their client) the result. This is so that the lawyers can point out any glaring mistakes to the Judges so the mistakes can be addressed before the judgement is actually read out in court the next day.

Is there anyone who could answer this:

What would be the case if the property in North Cyprus is in my name and all our assets in the UK are in my wifes name?

As far as I'm aware that may do it but for sure, put all UK assets into a Trust fund.
