Much the same in Esentepe :-(

Had to put the fire on too!

Good for the garden though.

Plenty of tennis to watch, and beers in the fridge.

I'm allright Jack )))

Glad the weather improving for my nieces in Cramlington near Newcastle. The weather is getting worse here BUT at least we are guaranteed a good summer!

Bill all joking aside I hate rain but we really need it so will just have to shut up and put up with it or it will cost a fortune in tankers again this summer. So for me it can rain for the next 4 weeks.

Been raining in Esentepe for the last four hours, backwashed the pool because the emergency overflow can't cope!! There's a river running down the side of our villa. Happy days, the in-laws come tomorrow to get away from the UK winter for a couple of months!

Returned from my visit to the UK last night. The first one for some years. Didn't have one nice day there without snow or rain for the whole 6 wks. Arrived back to slightly warmer dry weather and, within 2 hrs a storm broke out and it hasn't stopped persisting down with rain since. I am back in the fluffy jamas and bedsocks with hot water bottle same as in the UK!

Looking at the weather site from Kayalar, we have had over half the months rain in one day. My doggy wouldn't go out in it so I pushed her out with a brolly over her to do wee wee. She wasn't pleased.

Haaa Lilli! I had said in the UK that this past Xmas would forever be imprinted on my mind as the Primark fluffy jamas and robes one!

Sadly I left them all behind with the fur edged coat and heavy woollies when I came back (making room for the Xmas pressies) - I could do with them here today!

Most used pressie so far is the Wheat and Lavender bag - it's been in the microwave about six times since I landed.

My neighbours have told me to sod off back to the UK and take the weather with me!

We had a barmy 10 degrees in Manchester today and at work our Air Con actually turned itself off for a short while. The current temperature (2230 hrs GMT) is 5 degrees and fells quite nice compared to the last few weeks.

But there's a but....On Wednesday the snow is due again with between an inch and 4 inches predicted. No doubt the country will grind to a halt again!!

With all that rain yesterday my house was crying, literally. water seeping in from every window drips running down the wall and damp patches on the walls where the render has crumbled off and the house was only compleated last nov.

Just another example of the high standards of building work here in the TRNC.

Not a happy camper!!!

Bit chilly now...I must have acclimatised as the 12 C today seems far colder with the wind. Indoors with a bobble hat on and blanket over me but once I light the fire it'll be fine. Keep warm.

msge. 36: It certainly has been (relatively mild) ! Whereabouts in Glos? we're in Cheltenham. From world weather reports I've seen that Nicosia's min.temps have been around -1c so I guess blankets & heaters will be in great demand in TRNC ! Keep warm everyone but remember - central Europe has it really, really badly at -23c !!

Water would need temperatures of minus 7c at least to freeze. With chlorine in your pool this is even lower (as low as -40c) as there will not be the bacteria needed to cause it to freeze at even this temperature.

http://www.international.inra.fr/press/phytopathogenic_bacteria_make_rain_and_snow

It makes interesting reading and the ongoing research may ultimately lead to a method of drought prevention in the future.

BBC consistently understate the Kyrenia minimum temperature. You see that if you checked their "actual" temperatures. I think they must use the temperatures at the top of the mountains for their predictions?
