7 of us went to the Red Lion in Alsancak yesterday for a Roast . Well done to them for such a great meal, the best ive had yet in Cyprus, Beef and Pork served together, Honey roast parsnips, roast tatties, yorkshires, brussels, cabbage, mixed carrott and swede, mash and thick gravy all served to the table in pipeing hot terines and lots of it, and the Meat was thick cut, not cut the thickness of a Rizla paper that some places serve up and call Meat !!! A good sign was that it was fully booked, and everyone seemed to know everyone else, a great day, great atmosphere, and the log burner was lit !!!

I rest my case your Honour

the price at patinas is very attractive, however you pay for what you get, one small slice of beef, one roast pot, one carrot etc. All very well presented but not enough to satisfy that sunday feeling. Certainly not a traditional sunday roast, but thats just my opinion!

Rafters, Old Mill and guidos for me!

At last - some common sense in the pricing of Sunday lunch in competing restaurants/bars. Compared to some carverys in the UK, Sunday lunch here can be quite expensive.

Smoking ban inside restaurants now if under a certain size - and I would think they are - so only smoking outside!!

Hi Parkview

It's 17.50 Lira and Thundercat, it was actually 2 thick slices of meat lol. Slightly nouvelle cuisine but filling. Best we have had on the island, each to their own tho'

Neg Nick, Honey roasted parsnips you can buy from bells foods, but these are fresh from """11$% , and ive heard they are about 8 lire a kilo, they were 13 a kilo at Xmas time. I would always rather pay the extra bit and have a meal you enjoyed, its surely best to go by quality rather than price. Its like Champagne you can get Moet for £30 ish and Don Perion for £150 ish, and i know what i'll be opening.

we are always trying out the Sunday lunches. Punjab, our favourite, is always packed, cars have to park on the side of the road, the best roast dinner we have had and lovely, warm and cosy!

Followed by JK's, can you believe it, 6 veg!!!!!!!!! each to there own, I love the thick gravy but my friend doesn't.

It would be a boring world if we all liked the same. I like to read this forum on food, if someone gives a place a good recommendation we always try it. Don't knock it until you try it x
