Just checking whether anyone been to collect their residency in last week, do you still need to be there at 7am. When I went to the police station there were no queues at the beginning of Jan and now apparently they are saying it only takes 2 weeks so I am presuming things have died down.

I went there yesterday, here is a brief rundown.

I left it 4 weeks from the submission.

Left Catalkoy @ 0730

Arrived Lefkosa @ 0802

Wrote names down numbers 32 & 33

Tickets issued @ 0825

I received tickets 29 @ 30

Doors opened 0845

Someone who arrived at 0700 noted there was allready 12 names on the list.

Number 13 came up @ 1015.

I was still waiting for mine when they went to lunch @ 1200

They should start back to work @ 1345

The doors opened again @ 1405

I was out of there @ 1425.

The good news is that I went by myself and picked up both mine and my wife's. So you both don't need to waste a day.

If you work out the times above they have a 5 hour 10 min working day.

Also if you know the right people you can "jump" the queue.

An English person I know arrived at 1400 with a TC interpreter and went staight in (no ticket, no waiting).

Maybe I just picked the wrong day!!!!

mine took 8 weeks from going to girne police to collection, what a waste of time and petrol going to lefkosa every week to see if it was there, and as for the number to call i was trying twice a week for most of that time and it was only answered once !!

I had a phone call from a friend this week who left here in October to live in Alanya, he got his permanent residence this week! Just had to prove he had money in the bank.

The residency application procedure at Lefkosa has certainly gone backwards in my view, what used to take a couple of hours now takes an inordinate amount of time, and as for fixers, don't get me going on that one, everyone here is on the "make",it makes my blood boil.

Thanks for the update, Sideways. Sorry your wait was so long, but good to know that you were able to collect both, without any problems. We'll give it a try next year, instead of the three of us keeping you company.

I was told 'two weeks' by Kyrenia police station, but should have gone today, I reckon. However, listening to the sage of 'Sideways' I think I will leave it and go at 2p.m. to see what happens.

Anyone else got any recent experience?

OLf course, it could be an idea to all get together and nicely ask Immigration what could be done to make their lives and ours easier.

MarieB

If you go at 2 p.m. there is the chance that they will send you away depending on how many tickets issued.

They only work 2 hours in the afternoon.
