3 Bed villa for sale situated in the best part of Cyprus (ie the North) has large pool.. great views.. blah..blah.. might consider a couple of Million quid but on the other hand..Naaaah...even if I could sell why would I want to!!!! Not sure about anyone else but I never bought here to make a profit in fact I'm not sure I'm even clever enough to do that!! ... my first visit to NC was back in 2004 after many years of doing the Spain, Portugal, France thing... what we saw then was so different from anywhere else that even during that very first visit I knew that one day we would have our own place in the sun here.... If God forbid we lose it (which I don't think we will) then I can honestly say I will not have regretted one moment of our time here and meeting all the fantastic people that we now call our friends...Lord Justice Pill...you may with your ruling have changed things here but I doubt it will see the mass exodus you and your europrats crave...till then long live the TRNC

Have to say we always look forward to seeing you and Guido...the pair of you have huge hearts and would help anyone if asked and folk like that are few and far between believe me!! Lilly is just a wee button and is now threatening to crawl ...not long before she is all over the place hopefully we should get back out in April so see you then. G xx

on a recent visit could not find an office buiding in Famagusta asked a shopkeeper who was not satisfied in giving us directions , he took us in his car to the doorstep of this building which was a 10 minute drive, doubt if i would get that hospitality elsewhere .

On another occasion i was just browsing in a shop , picked a up scarfe to ask the price and the owner put it in my hand and said Christmas present for you I will treasure that scarfe for ever .

For me it is the local people that brings me back time after time the kindest people I have ever met and we have now made the decision to spend even more time in TRNC .

Hey Jim,

Apart from substituting "Asia, Middle East, Africa thing" for your locations, your story could be my story.

Couldn't, therefore, agree with you more.

Not so wacky, Jim...

So there was I thinking my little place in NC was going to sell for squillions of quid until along came the evil Mr, Candounas and took away my dream of avarice.

Just look around at other countries - Spain prices down 80% with thousand of unsold holiday properties, Portugal down 30%, Turkey the same. Prices in NC and elsewhere are more affected by the economies of the 'home' countries of those likely (or unlikely) to buy. Not some ruling in ECHR or the house of Lords.

When things turn around in the UK and maybe Russia some abstract possibility is not going to put anyone off.

I bought a place for my retirement and since I served here with the UN in 1997/8 nowhere other than NC was ever going to have the same place in my heart.

Just enjoy what you have and b*gger the bregrudgers!

Excellent posting wackyjim.

Well said Wackyjim, couldn't agree more.

As I am writing this I am looking out over my garden towards the beautiful mountains, if I were to go into the lounge I could look at the sea. My TC neighbour has just been over with a bowl of fresh oranges from her garden wearing a smile that would light up the island, the sun is shining and all is well in my little bit of heaven. I don't give a toss what the papers say, what the GC's threaten or what the doombringers predict, this is my home and nothing will make me leave it, we all need to realise that panic and despondency is just what the GC's are trying to spread so tell the where to stick it.

Long live TRNC.

Heading into my fourth year in TRNC... I couldn't agree more with you WackyJim. I've travelled extensively but chose TRNC to settle. I love everything good about it and there is a lot of that, and I smile at the minor irritations. The people here are wonderful, friendly, genuine people. I am in UK at the moment for 2 weeks and I really miss my mountain view and my stray moggies.

Hi Wacky

Well said - I totally agree with you. I am a bit behind you (waited 3 1/2 year for my house with that view), But I am not downhearted, just rented a villa with pool, now the retirement starts!!!

Hubby leaves here at 5am in the morning and I leave on 15th - can't wait. You know the old saying:

Count your lucky stars!

well Wacky you have just outlined all your lucky stars
