In the past we lost "TRNC Villa Owners" a few times with over 2000 membership and we had to start from scratch again. No matter what they do, they will not be able to muzzle us. Our best bet is to support C44 which is privately owned and be able to invest in necessarry software to repel such attacks. Of course such things cost money and we must be able to help voluntarily. I think Izzet will come up with a scheme very soon. Let us wait and see.

No Nigel's Main Board is down, it has nbeen subject to a ddos attack similar to the one on Cyprus44. Essentially thousands of computers have sent login requests to access the site. This is done automatically by computers infested with a trojan so the owners of the computers are none the wiser. Apaprently you can buy control of these Robot computers.

It's a crazy world.

In short. 1 : If every computer (PC) was checked for malicious software to enter or to exist/sleep on the hard drive 24/7 there could hardly be a DDoS attack in this world. Did *you* protect your computer? (Yes, I did. Every port on my Mac - although far less vulnerable than PC's - is checked for incoming traffic 24/7. And I run the best protective software available). 2 : If all web sites were backed up (mirrored) 24/7 no or hardly any information would be lost after a DDoS attack. Good hosting providers (usually not free or the cheapest) will do it - my ISP in the Netherlands did and does it. Furthermore, to be absolutely safe when a disaster would happen (original and mirrored web site lost in very rare cases), it is recommendable to back up a web site 24/7 on your own computer or a special drive for this occasion. The software is cheap and so are 1 terrabyte (ca 1000 Gig) drives nowadays.
