For a friend first timer. How does she go about it. What does she need to take and where please!

Have had a read of the write up on here but seems to me to be out of date I think...

Thanks

Hi we did ours last week.

1.passport copies + passport

2.copy of proof of purchase

3. proof of paying land tax

4.copies of bank statements

Numbers 3 + 4 have to show they are stamped

We also took a copy of marrage certificate they did not ask for this but kept it.

we took it to imagration at Girne police station, it only took about 20 mins, was told to collect it in 2 -3 weeks from Nicosia.

I think for the blood test you need to get the form from the police station

Yeh, you take all that information that 'numpty' mentioned to the police station. Then you get a slip from them which you take to a medical clinic (any) and give it to them, with your passport and they will do your bloodtest.

Don't you also need a letter from the Mukhtar and a copy of last years passprt stamp?

Yes, letter from Muhtar required stating that he knows you and where you live. Copy of Kocan, Contract of sale or if renting then a copy of a valid Tenancy agreement is required. Every year thereafter these have to be obtained again to apply for the renewal of Residency.

Too much trouble for many folks. If they streamlined it all then more europeans would be happy to retire here and so boost the economy; they would also have to speed up PTPs,

message 2

I think that item no. 2 should be the copy of contract & no 3 should be proof of paying contract tax (not land tax). Therefore No. 2 should be a copy of the contract receipted by the tax office to show that you have paid the contract stamping tax.

I'm assuming that you haven't yet got the Kocan?

What's the cost now? I was going to do it to save worrying about 90 day stamp (or what what is in vogue) when we visit but decided against it when they changed rules as to not counting towards permanent residency if you don't stay in NC almost permanently.

185 TL per person (I think it went up to that from 1st Jan).

+ cost of Muhtars letter

+ cost of Postage stamps

+ cost of Medical for first application only.

On first application at the police station, do you take your own stamps or just pay for them there?

If you must take your own how much do you need and what denomination?

Thanks

You don't need stamps at the Police station, you need them at Immigration.

You can buy them from the cafe there.

Don't forget the 1.30tl stamp on the Muhtar's letter, then 7tl stamps for Immigration when you go to collect the visa.

Sideways, you do need the stamps at the Police Station for first time application for residency, not after this though, as you say.

Muhtar provides stamps for the letter in most villages.

I can also confirm that you only need postage stamps & not as some say, "official stamps", before someone brings up this old chestnut.

Go to the immigration office at the police station in Girne with a pen and paper. They will tell you what you need. It will only take a few minutes and the information will be far more accurate

msg 22. Sorry bankadan, I have no idea.

Hopefully someone who has very, recently done a new Temporary residency application will be able to answer that.

Alternatively I would suggest a visit to Girne PS (Immigation office) & get all the info. about the 1st Residency procedure. This used to be on a sheet of paper on the door, but I noticed that when we went last year, it was sadly, no longer there. One step forward & two steps back here.

!st time residency application

Went to Girne P Station asked what was required made a list.

Made 5 visits in all, each time they required something else that wasn't on the original list.

Muktar letter + 2copies Sale agreement +2copies (all copies must have last page stamped)

Bank statements +copies Passportsize photo x2

Proof of tax payment +copies Stamps 9tl per person

Passport +photocopies of passport + Photcopies of page in passport with the stamp when you entered TRNC

Then they give you a slip of paper to enable you to get a blood test.

Return with all afore mentioned plus receipt to say you've had your blood test and paid for it.

They then kept all copies and told us to report to Lefkosa in 2 to 3 weeks. They didn't mention it but have been informed that you take the result of your blood tests with you. Sealed.

No xray, but at the clinic they gave us a jab. When we returned to collect our blood test results they inspected our arms. Apparently it's a TB test

To be cont:

Off to Lefkosa next week with our blood tests and stamps

.We'll have fingers crossed but won't hold our breath

.The requirements seem to change from one week to the next.Take extra copies of everything. However many you have they seem to want more.
