My first thought is get hold of Teresa on this board she is also Kibris Galini (the bridal shop).

Her rates will be reasonable and her contacts good.

jamestalbot.......Please give Gemma a call on 0533 846 4604 or email her on pebbles1976@hotmail.co.uk - she arranged everything herself for her own wedding and having lived here for over 5 years she can help you with suggestions of venues for the wedding, the meal afterwards and inform you about all the paperwork that is required.

Teresa,

Enjoy the heat while it lasts. We are freezing over here, even in Cyprus.

Teresa is a great girl,l and there are several other wedding planners. If you care to e mail me privately, I can perhaps give you some more info. (I am also involved in a small way with some weddings, so have gained a lot of info which MAY be of help). So, write to me (if you wish) to marie.blaquiere@yahoo.com.

Just a brief note to say that just about anything is possible here, but if you want the Kaymakan to perform the legal part of the ceremony, then it must be in their working hours - otherwise Cyprus is your romantic oyster.

Sorry James, as you have hidden your e mail address, I can't write to you direct, but as I said above if you contact me, I know the names of several wedding planners, but I also know several people who have very satisfactorily arranged their own weddings, and I could put you in touch with them, if you wanted.

James as someone who got married in the TRNC myself, I would advise you to contact Marion as she has lots of contacts and you can bounce ideas of her.

Hi. We have our wedding booked for 26th July but are really struggling to find a reasonably priced venue for our reception. Does anyone have any ideas for the Kyrenia or surrounding areas??

Guidos!

Book the whole restaurant, ask him to create a set menu of your choice.

You will get great food and the best hospitality available here!

Trust me they will make it whatever you like.

Maria, send an email to guidoandliz@yahoo.co.uk

Saying roughly how many people you have and what kind of menu your looking for, Then a price per head can be worked out and all can be arranged.

Hi

We got married last June and used Carol at North Cyprus Weddngs. The service we received was first class and I would recommend this company to anyone. We got lots of information and prices before we paid anything. We had the actual wedding and reception up at the Kybele, Bellapais. We also had a blessing performed by Marion which made our day perfect.

Thanks Dawnie and Penny for the praise! As you can see I am no good at advertising myself for what I do, but I do like to see people get just what they want. Therefore, as far as venues go, I think Maria should first decide where? See? Mountain? Roadside? Countryside? And where is the wedding? Guidos is fab, but you mightr prefer a different setting with dancing in the open air. And do you REALLY want roast beef in July when it will probably be 40 degrees in the shade.

Again, happy to share my experience, so thanks again to Dawnie and Penny for the praise, and for the recommendation of Carol, who is greatly experienced, and then there is Vashti, and Jade, and, and, and.......

Oh and if you haven't got a photographer I know a good one who does many of the weddings, and I know of a man who does video. Of course my husband will do it for nothing, but last time he did it he forgot to turn the camera on!

Whatever you choose, I do hpe you make the right decisions for that VERY

Oh dear, I do hope all of our recommendations have not got you even more confused. I guess it takes a lot of homework to ensure you have got it right. But always remember guys, the more you put in, the more you remember it all, and it is those moments you want to remember when the going gets a bit challenging, or you disagree as to where you squeeze the toothpaste.

So, enjoy you rplanning, and use all of us to find just what is right for you> And I am so glad that all of you are chosing the island of love to start on that grand road of love.

Do hope that all goes well for you. Our son married here in 2008 without a single hitch and we arranged the whole thing ourselves with the help of a very dear local friend who was able to sort through all the red tape. Your brother will first of all have to go to the embassy in London with his partner to get a paper to confirm that they are legally able to marry which has to be produced here before they can marry. The wonderful vicar at St. Andrews performed the ceremony at Kybele Bellapais and the reception was at the Ada Hotel, right on the sea with wonderful sun set, the food was terrific also together with disco and free local drinks till midnight, the florists did a magnificent job, the photographer was brilliant and the cost of the whole event, including wedding dress, three bridesmaids and two flower girls attire the grooms suit and two best men, two flights back and forth, hair,2 platinum rings, airport transfers for 40+ people, boat trip, transport to and from Bellapais all

came to less than a third of what it would have cost in the UK so what did they do but go back to the UK and give a great party to those who could not come!! Another wonderful wedding venue would be on Cengiz and Sidi's boat, the African Queen which is now doing weddings. This would have been a choice but my son and his wife were worried that parents would not relax and enjoy themselves if there were children around so that is why after the wedding they went on the boat and we could not fault that, took the rest of the wedding cake and decorated the boat with the flowers from the wedding so still had the wedding atmosphere. Do hope you have a wonderful day - guaranteed SUNSHINE!!

Hi James,

Having been to some of Vashti`s weddings, I can highly recommend her as well. Have a look on her website and the testimonials http://www.north-cyprusweddings.com or just give her a call on 0533 868 3867 and I`m sure she will be more than happy to answer your questions.

Following Geronimo's posting, just to make sure you realise that the church here can only do a Blessing, so you would need a Kaymakan ceremony first, somewhere, simetime, but if you wanted a full church we3dding here, then you would have to come in via Larnaca and have a priest come over from the south.

Of course, the Blessing Ceremony is almost identifical but it has no legal weight. But for those to whom it matters, then a Blessing gives that extra dimension. Of course, if you can't take church ceremonies as being outside your understanding of life, this could be 'uncomfortable' but have a chat with the Chaplain first. I also believe that the costs for the Chaplain have gone up to something just under £200. But please check.

Oh dear, James. I am SO sorry. Money (or lack of it) ruins so many things. I fully understand. I have been married three times and arrange them all on a shoe string budget, and also arranged my daughter's inWales the same way, but at the end of the day it costs 'something'.

You could always come over (fiof you can afford the air fare), go to the Kaymakan and get hitched officially, go to the beach and have some ceremony or other of your choosing, and then go off to Cod Baba (well, not quite) to have a cheap meal. Most restaurants here would be delighted to have you , even if you chose the simplest of fare.

But, as long as the couple are happy and want to wait for the best.

Please wish them well from me. I hope that when (if they do!) get married it will be just what they want regardless of expense. As long as they hold on to their love, they can beat the world.!

MarieB Thankyou for your kind thoughts and wishes, my brother has been made redundant, so no job limited money, I have offered to pay fot the flights, but I can't afford the wedding I wish I could, my brother is like me he is to proud and I know he will not take my offer up.

My pleasure, James. They say 'Love conquers all' but it doesn't always conquer lack of money and redundancies. Hope your brother gets a job real soon and that the relationship he has is not married by this 'challenge'. Too many people getting too many body blows these days. I can understand about the pride, but if he wants to swallow it at any time and take up your offer, I am sure I can find some dirt cheap answers for you - well, me and a few others who believe in love.

But just remember there is a right time for everything (the scriptures talk about 'Unto everything there is a season' - which is just a 17th century way of saying the same thing), and maybe when your brother does marry it will be even better.

Keep warm all of you - even if the only thing you have to achieve that is love.

If you come over - look me up. I am always happy to drink coffee with friends.
