We have been asked by Dopi to renew our subscription for one year, when we asked for our free month it transpires that you only get it once you sign up for a further 12 months fee and you will then receive 13 months service (if you are lucky). When we informed them that we had only received 10 to 11 months service and they have not fulfilled their contract with us, we were still refused our free month unless we signed up for a further 12 months. Dopi refuse to move from this stance plus they also refuse to allow subscribers to pay monthly or quarterly so we have decided to cut our losses and cancel our subscription, needless to say they have asked for their box back which we believe we have paid for along with the dishes and our first years subscription at a cost of £550 (including installation). Has anyone else returned their box to Dopi or had this experience?

tell them to shove it !! you can download many recently shown UK TV programmes on http://www.uknova.com (latest Corrie, Eastenders, Emmerdale, Fri Night with Wossy, Deal of No deal etc - typically 1-2 days behind UK).. its free and you can watch the programmes whenever convenient ypu can connect your computer to your tellie and hey presto - and Uklike Dopi - its reliable... We leave computer on overnight and select several programmes to download and they are ready to watch the following day - you'll be amazed how good it is ! Dopi TV - forget it....

Hi Scoobydoo Yes i had the same call - i told them i was not renewing as the service was still not working correctly, and some of the channels were missing (they forgot to renew thier subscription apparently) and after much discussion i argued that the equipment was mine as it was not in the contract about ownership, they admitted the forgot to include this clause, but would do so upon renewal (you only will own the equipment after 3 years subscription). I told them i was not interested and eventually took the box back, as i could not watch anything without it scrambling There are other options, so shop around.

Well these people need a wake up call. 1 month free. lol. They need to try a little harder than that, like greengate8 says shop around. One other offers monthly subscription. Plus internet tv is now a good option? So if they want repeat custom they will have work harder and offer monthly subscription or loose existing customers. Not good for business!

I thought Dopi made it clear that you would get your free month when you signed up for another year, so cant see what the problem is? Also if channels do drop out, all you have to do is ring them and they will come out and sort it or you can pop into the office next time your in Girne and they will update it( takes 2 minutes) and it then works fine with all the channels. Stop looking at Dopi as some sort of North Cyprus sky, it isnt! its a card sharing system which would be ilegal anywhere else so you pay your money and take your chance and compared to a lot of other similer TV systems here its pretty good.

Yeah, gotta agree with Camli, Dopi is pretty good. Any problems I've had, usually caused by the wife playing with the remote, they've sorted, without laughing, well, not too much. I think they are the best of the bunch, a pretty bad bunch UK wise, but we're not in UK. Tony ps have sky in uk, gonna fetch the box when I come back, 'n if it don't work I'll swim in the dish.

Re: msg 13 1. No Dopi did not make it clear that we would get our free month until after you sign up for another year until they rang wanting us to renew our subscription. 2. Like the rest of you, we were without tv for about 1 month however we continued to have problems with viewing for another 3-4 weeks after that and were told that our box needed resetting and we would have to take it to the shop. We did, then could not get it working once we had it back at home, there was an error msg coming up. Rang Namik and asked for someone to come out to help us, we would have to pay 50tl for a technician to come out as they subcontract (which we did not know)! After a further 'more heated discussion' with Namik he did offer to come out himself. We are not technicians and if there is a problem resulting from them changing things they should have the courtesy of ensuring our system is up and running and NOT us having to argue the case. 3. We still did not have all the channels to

Msg 14 Cont......d 3. We still did not have all the channels to view. 4. We are not looking at them to be the same as a UK system, we are only looking at them to provide a service they have gladly taken our money for. 5. Dopi say that they have to purchase a card for these systems that is why they have to ask for an annual subscription from everyone upfront. How much are these cards? They only have to purchase one for Nova as they are card sharing. We have been here for quite a number of years and generally let things slide as we are in Cyprus, however this is time we are not saying 'Oh, it's a North Cyprus thing and we have to accept it as it is', this is only about receiving a service for what we have paid for. Thank you

We have encounted the same problems with Dopi Tv and have just had the technician out to alter the position of one of our dishes and the office have rung and demanded we pay the technician 50tl for this service! We have refused to pay as we feel this should be part Dopi's responsibility and the service we initially paid for ( £550 ), which included installation and set up costs. Has anyone else been asked to pay this charge and if so have you paid?

If the dish needs to be moved because of a change in the setup details then this could rightly be seen as the suppliers responsibility. If the Dish adjustment is required because it has moved due to wind or some external agency then it is fair to charge. Not a statement of truth from on high, just my opinion! Harold

NN; Thanks for the link, I am now signed up! I also have been very busy on the internet and found out how I can watch so many bbc/itv and channel4 programmes I honestly wonder why I even bothered with Dopi! Greengates: If they want their dish, they will have to come and collect it, i am not in the mood to be running around after them. Markys: I must admit to having to agree with Harold2555, if the wind or something has moved the dish then I would expect to pay for a realignment however I do not expect to pay for the situation I was in. Dopi: Thanks for being 'difficult' you have made me search alternative ways of watching the programmes I like and it only costs me £5 per month. Cheers!!!

Similar to UKNova website but far better IMO is the http://www.theboxbiz http://thebox.bz/main.php I currently have 10 invites available FOC. if you need one & have been unable to join UK Nova? If you want me to send you a free invite, please leave your email address on this thread or alternatively your mobile number. You do need to be reasonably (but not very) computer literate to use this system. It is totally free as long as you "seed" programmes that you have downloaded back to other users. I have been using thebox website for over 6 months now & am able to download & view all the programmes of my choice within 24 hrs of them being shown on UK TV. I can therefore avoid the stuff I do not wish to see & only select what I am interested in.

Will do Kibris. Please ensure you read the FAQ section first. You will have a download a bittorrent first. I would suggest Utorrent 1.8.3. This is free, just google it. I have just downloaded the current series of Silent Witness - series 13. (shown in January)

Msg 3, rowlo: (...) and they said you were crazy to get a 4.2 metre dish . (...) => Yes, I think so! If you have an Internet connection in TRNC you pay 150 Euros (once) for a Slingbox and get 30+, 60+ or more (British and international) channels on your computer for 4, 8 or more Euros a month. Then buy a Slingcatcher (60 US Dollars) and watch TV on your normal TV set (wireless from your computer to the set). Take a couple of minutes to read about it here: http://www.google.com/search?q=slingbox&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 It may look complicated but it's really easy to set up! Don't read if you prefer to follow NN's advise and prefer to buy a 4.2 m dish...

I am also grateful to NN for the suggestion and have now started watching tv via the internet and have such a huge choice of programmes to download, it's amazing! Dopi who?? |

fiendishpaul...... you are welcome! scruff, as I said Dopi who?? Dopi did me such a big favour by not keeping to their contract, it made me look for alternatives. Why pay £175 per year when you can watch so many programmes for free. I have also picked up a vpn through reading many threads from helpful members on this forum and for a cost of £5 per month I can watch so many programmes on bbc, itv and channel 4, in fact because I have been out of UK for quite a while I didn't think there were that many channels. I have worked out how and where to download all the up to date movies at night .... in fact I am becoming a computer expert!!! as if!
