Everyone who has purchased here, or are thinking of purchasing here need to sign this. Without amendment of the law we may never get our title deeds. I believe this will give the TRNC construction industry and economy a much needed boost by protecting present and future purchasers. It's no good sitting in our armchairs hoping that everyone else will do something for us. We all need to stand up together and take joint positive action. It affects all of us. We have to start taking action together! Please sign this petition as soon as you can.

For some reason the link is not working. If you look at this topic, you can access the link from the bottom posting on page 1 heading: TRNC PM answers property issues and problems

Performance Law. I believe the time is right. Please have a look at http://trncvillaowners.phpbb3now.com/viewtopic

Why does it say "6 years" I was told it can take up to 2 years Anyway,

it is most important to get them as my local friend told me (and he's from a

top family in N.Cyprus) Personally, I think it's a lot of nonsense. We get our

title deeds when we pay for our property backhome.

Hi moderators - can you let me know why the title of this has been changed? Also, if possible, can you put it back to capitals. This is a very important issue for a lot of people and needs to be eyecatching.

Thanks

I have spoken to Ian Shepherd from Cyprus Today re this important issue and I hope that he can publicise it in an attempt to raise awareness because until the SP Law is amended, it affects the thousands of us who don't have our title deeds.

I've signed it. Advise everyone not to buy off plan until this law is changed. That way it will bring the construction business to a halt and force the government to do something

Cocos,

Very good idea but why for off plan only? You cannot get PTP in less than two months, hence this law must be changed for everyone.

Here is a new motto:

DON'T BUY UNTIL SP LAW IS CHANGED

I signed it. Veyr wise words Ismet. Spread the word, don't buy ANY PROPERTY until this law is changed. It's just not worth risking it. The government are being influenced by the builders and contractors union. If they start feeling thepinch they'll be quick to do something about it. Vote with your feet!

I think there is a quirk in the system. When you fill in your details and press submit, it displays a page saying internet explorer couldn't display the page or tells you it can't find the page, but it has actually logged your details. Because you think it hasn't filed your info, you try again, and then it tells you your details are already recorded because it did work the first time.

On the petition page, if you go in to "Signatures" and you see that your name has only just gone on. This will confirm it.

The count stands at 562 signatures. In my view not enough to make an impact. How else can we explain the importance of this petition?

Nearly all the Cyprus forums are mentioning it. Could we get any support from the HBPG so that people accessing it can also petition? Has it had any mention in the media?

When you sign this, DO NOT sign this on all the families behalf, as I suspect it will only count as one signiture.

Get all the family to sign it individually to get maximum benefit and get the numbers up.

Have you signed the petition to amend the Specific Performance Law?

Without a change in this law, it means you cannot take action against your vendor to compel them to transfer the title deeds to you. Thus some unscrupulous developers are not adhering to their side of the contract and are not willing to transfer the deeds to the buyers, using this a leveridge to extract extra funds from purchasers.

Please see this weeks edition of Cyprus Today (June 21-27), who are covering this very important issue.

The petition was started some time ago by Ismet Ustuner, a very helpful and knowledgeable member of this board where legal matters are concerned. The petition is backed by the HBPG.

Kibrissibel. Can I make a suggestion, why not put a petition form in every bar and restuarant in NC? Obviously you would have to obtain the owners permission...that way you are going to get more of a chance to get people to sign.

In addition, every owner or potential owner write direct to Mr Talat the main Man? Does anybody have His address?

Hi Nunu

I think it is better to have a central place for signatures, that way we can see how many signatures we are getting. It would also take weeks to go round all establishments etc and time is of the essence. But it's not my descision to make as I didn't start this petition; I'm just trying to raise awareness of it.

It is hard enough to get people to sign this petition, let alone get them to write a letter to Talat as well. If we can get enough signatures, this petition will be presented to him.

Please keep the signatures coming.

Susie - I do not understand either. If people are worried, they can sign the petition anonymously. People also have to consider what will happen if their vendor dies without transferring the title to the buyer. In this case the property will become part of the estate and will be dealt with by probate. This can cause even more problems and headaches for people, especially if the vendor has debts.

There are not enough signatures to cause an impact.

There are reputable lawyers and builders/developers here but the bad ones are pulling the good ones down with them. If the Specific Performance Law was changed and the KDV was payable direct to the tax office, then it is a win-win situation for everyone. The buyer gets their title deeds, the tax office and government get their money and the developers deliver what they contractually promised.

I went in to the link but did not go directly to the petition. What should I put in the search?

There are nearly 2000 members on here, but it would be interesting to know how many memberships are active. I suspect well over half, if not more are inactive and have been for some time. Izzet do you have the stats mate?

Have you signed the petition to amend the Specific Performance Law? There are only 785 names on it. It is not enough!!!!

For those of you withut access to Cyprus Today, you can read the article on the link below from the HBPG website:

Sibel, there's an easy way to make long URL's short. Example: the URL you provide has 60 letters and may break in email and/or postings on bulletin boards:
