NN,

The electricity IS NOT CHEAP. It's more expensive than the UK per Kilo Watt Hour and a damn site more expensive than you pay for yours too.

compared to the production cost, KıbTek is selling its electricity under value, without government subsidises they are not able to operate.. Shorty: in UK / Europe we mainly have electric generated from nuclear power plants, at a minimal cost of a few cents per kWh. Companies were able to make wins in Billions and save them for future investments - such as renewing infrastructure and investing in renewable energy.

Generating electricity whith a fueloil powerd power plant is much more expensive. The cost per kWh is roughly 15 to 20 euro cent, which equals the selling price. No real win is made, no savings, investments can be made. This is KıbTek!

As 90% of the TRNC electric infrastructure needs renewing, and KıbTek not having the money for renewal, the powercuts will go on and on and on.. This is what I said 5 years ago, this is what I will be saying in the next 5 years.

Get used to it and dont expect miracles!

Ach, it was only for an hour or so. And hey, compared to years ago it is a lot better. Things are improving slowly.

nuclear is not the way to go. no way. If the energy of a nuclear power plant would be insured, a kWh would cost more than an Euro - no one would be willing to pay this ammount. No worldwide insurance company is willing to take this risk. so they are all not insured!

At the moment the price for wind or solar generated electricity is about 15 to 35 euro cent per kWh including insurance and maintenance (industrial scale). This is the ammount we all should get used to and forget about so called "cheap energy".

Energy saving is much much chaper, but this the people need to understand first.

Give me strength, an hour without electricity, what ever is wrong with some people that they have to moan about that. Go out and sweep the terrace or clean some windows, sit down and read a book, surely nobody is that reliant on electricity that they can't manage for an hour without it !

What a bunch of whingers, no wonder people say about moaning Brits.
