As you will know,a few weeks ago there was a charity evening for Helen from Windows bar. Today she has heard from her doctor she needs o negative blood by saturday so her operation can go ahead as soon as. She has asked if anyone can help would they phone her on 05338398741 after 4pm tomorrow and she can give you information on where this will take place?Thankyou

In Nurseawful's BloodBank database, maintained by me, I find several potential donors. I'm just waiting for her call to alarm the donors with a text message within minutes.

P.S. Did *you* join the BloodBank database? This time it's Helen - next time it may be *you* needing blood. Rude or harsh message? Yes.

THE SYSTEM WORKS! Today at 5 pm Nurseawful (Chris Offord) texted me that several units of O negative blood are needed tomorrow. At 5.02 all potential donators received a text message from the TRNC BloodBank (the database I built) and minutes later Chris could tell me that there will be 5 blood donators available tomorrow! Great!

It could have been you who needed an operation tomorrow - and blood. Please think again and join: call Chris Offord and give her your details as a potential blood donor.

Well done everyone everyone who received the text responded. Fortunately we did not need to use all you kind people only half of that blood group. So in another emergency we will use the others next time as the people who give blood today can't now do so for at least 12 weeks.



And a big Thank you to Hans as without him this project could never have gotten of the ground. So thanks Hans for all your hard work and your encouragement.

Last night I've put the TRNC BloodBank database on my mobile phone also. So, even if Internet may be down (it happens...) and I can't send the text messages from my computer via my mobile phone to your mobile phones - in an emergency I can do so now directly from my mobile phone also. Wherever I am.

Please note: potential blood donors will get text messages from the TRNC BloodBank ONLY from one of these phone numbers: 0533 841 5410 or 0533 864 5433. Any other number is fake (there are 'funny' people out there...).

I got your message DC and rang Chris last night. I went to Nicosia this morning, filled in the form and donated my blood with Helen's name on it. It was easy enough to do, just remember to eat something an hour before you go.

Spoke with kevin her husband on Saturday. She had the operation and there were no problems. She should be in hospital around 5 days.
