Petsas let you take car north too. We hired from them at Easter. We just ordered a basic small car but they gave us an air con medium one for the same price. Worth a try.

I also used Petsas. I picked up the car at paphos and then drove to their office in Nicosia where they provided me with fully comp car insurance for the north. It was quite funny because I had to wait 15 minutes whilst the guy cycled over the border and purchased the insurance from a comapany they have arrangement with in the north

Make sure you can get fully comp insurance, the insurance at the border is only third party. My mate ran into the back of a van at easter time with a hired south car he ended up with a £650 cyp bill from the hire company who took the money from his credit card, there was not much damage to the car but he thought he was covered,

Lindalu,

It never ceases to amaze me just how many people either don't realize that the insurance at the border is third party only, or are simply happy to take a chance on not having an accident!! I wouldn't insure my car in the UK third party only, where the roads are considerably safer!!

Ilovecyprus,

Interesting about Petsas. Do they give it to you IN WRITING that you are insured FULLY COMP in the North? If it is fully comp then sounds good, but I would require to see it in black and white.

I did ask for fully comp and they said that it was

The only problem was trying to find their office in Nicosia.

millzer,

We knew it was third party, and was happy to carry on. At the time we thought that was our only option.

Finding information about the trnc and laws and regulations is very difficult even with websites like this. I am still learning new things.
