I assume when you say 'also' you mean they are getting a pension in the TRNC too?

Don't know about that but, it is quite possible to receive a pension from more than one country. I have friends who receive one from Hong Kong and also a small state pension from the UK.

I have other TC friends who receive their pension from the RoC but they opted to live in the RoC after 74.

Why not, if they hold RoC passports?

What you get out of a pension is related to what you paid into it at least in basic theory.

Many TC paid into pension funds of one kind or another in the RoC upto 1974. Thus they are legitimatley able to claim. The vast majority that could legitimately claim do NOT. A few who can do.

They paid in , they have a right to take out. Simple really.

Erol,

As far as I know, everybody who can claim do so, after all its their money. They paid into the Social Insurance fund before 1974 and now at retirement age they have every right to claim what they are entitled to.

Elko I may be incorrect about the numbers that do or do not claim. I do know that many members of my family have such an entitlement having paid into the RoC social insurance fund prior to 74 yet do not claim against this in the RoC today, though thay have a right to. Maybe this is the excpetion rather than the rule, I do not know.
