Interest rates down again by another 3/4 % this week. Will they fall further? most banks offering around 9% on TL deposit accounts now and GBP 3.5%.

its not going to affect any of the ex-pats in the TRNC - cos none of them were lured here by the cheap property prices and the 20% interest rates....



and because were all very well off the spirilaling living costs don't hurt either....



Roll on 5% interest rates i say....





or as my old Uncle Percy once said "yow'm buying bleedin' where ? "

Where you getting information from as the most recent news from the turkish central bank is that the rate will remain the same see below:

DECISION OF THE MONETARY POLICY COMMITTEE

Meeting Date: January 14, 2010

Committee Members

Durmus Yılmaz (Governor), Erdem Basçı, Burhan Göklemez, Turalay Kenç,

M. brahim Turhan, Mehmet Yörükoglu.

Absent: Abdullah Yavas (on duty)

The Monetary Policy Committee (The Committee) has decided to keep policy

rates unchanged as follows:

a) Overnight Interest Rates: Borrowing rate at 6.50 percent, lending rate at 9

percent,

b) Late Liquidity Window Interest Rates (between 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.):

Borrowing rate at 2.50 percent, lending rate at 12 percent,

c) The interest rate on overnight and one-week maturity borrowing facilities

provided for primary dealers via repo transactions at 8 percent.

Recent data releases suggest that the moderate recovery in the economic

activity is ongoing.

Yes that was January but they only meet once a month to decide these things
