The life and soul of the North of the Island. A job for me perhap's being ex C.E.G.B and potential still. ' Im still busy in the North Sea ' at the moment. Each time i visit i note sustained improvement. Previous years discussions on the beach have resulted in installation and improved actual dependance, SIEMENS. Fair to say the machine and those that look after it afford applause. I can understand peoples concerns with lack of AC / DC and therefore perhaps may i catogarise - 1. Power Generation 2. Distribution 3. Builders 4. Portable My Question ..... in 2010, AC/DC - WHEN AND WHY THE BREAKDOWN ? Regards, Damian Flynn.

Damian, Often the power outages are scheduled to coincide with new transformers and new/replacement of cables. They appear unable to isolate specific areas readily to carry-out the work and simply pull the plug on rather large areas for safety reasons. These are often publicised in the Turkish Press but not always in the English papers.. sometimes as the remedial work is urgent this process is circumvented and the power outage takes everyone but KibTek by surprise. That's why power cuts are often in one area and not another. On the whole the power cuts are far less often than they used to be. The worst affected areas tend to be where the older infrastructure is badly in need of replacement, for obvious reasons.

There was a time that with the first flash of lightning, the lights went out. That happens a lot less, I'm pleased to say. I agree that many outages are probably due to maintenance/upgrading.

Groucho and TRNC Vaughan. Me as an idividual much appreciates your feedback and response. Me mine and yours enjoy North Cyprus for many reasons and progress will continue. Groucho i agree communication is key to this issue. I hope you make your just point, the understanding with Kib Tek ( not a bad bunch of lads ) and perhaps a common language , local papers and magazines. If a remote island such as Cyprus has lost it's means of communication; perhaps it has. 2. Distribution. Engineering Impact, Transformer, Cable connection - Serial and Parallel. 1. Power Generation - Breakdowns ?
