maybe they need to tell some people to 'calm their farm' a bit when talking to others then so many threads would not get closed - like the most recent one that has been closed

I think it deserves to become HOT. and back to the fishing there are seriously millions of barakuda and longtom garfish near the desalination inlet on turtle bay. If the sea stays flat anyone interested stands a 90% chance of catching a fish upto an maybe even over a meter long. Thats if I havent shot them all by the time U get there.

I was originally saying that most of the stuff on here serves no purpose. so why chose to close down a few of them. close them all. But still. The purpose of my initial post that did get closed for serving no purpose was to inform anyone interested where the best fishing spot is. believe it or not some people are interested. They must just be in england at the min! TUNA fishing is good but Im not sure that they are here at the min

Letty, that's why I started the thread about the seemingly inequality in early thread closing... If it does not suit a certain person it closes, no matter that a discussion is under way.. Moderators, threads are not just about those who are posting, they are also about those who are reading them. Something that seems to be being missed. At the same time you are not moderating posts that contain blatant name calling in contravention of the most important house rule. Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime..

they are like either a big garfish or a small thin sword fish. theyare blue silver colour with markings on the side. they cant go anymore than a couple of meters underwater because of there body make up. you can either catch them from the side with a live bait fish on a bigish hook 1meter away from the heaviest flote u can get. Or you can spear them. I done a video the other day down there with an underwater camera. its on youtube under spearfishing north cyprus. and its also on my SPEARFISHING NORTH CYPRUS facebook page. If you look at either please leave a comment. thanks. plus when you get them they taste lovely on the barbie. or even in the oven. the sea is full of them and barakuda at the minute.

sienna - good point and one I was going to raise. I thought better of it since I got into a bit of a slagging match with someone who was a keen hunter and told me that he ate what he shot. I could understand that when it was necessary to survive to hunt your own food, but otherwise couldn't quite see the point. I have witnessed spear fishers before, bragging about the beautiful fish they had managed to spear. Personally, I always thought they (the fish) looked better swimming around than on the end of a spear, but, to be honest, I do not know enough about any type of fishing to comment. The only thing I would say is that if you fish with a rod and line, it is often possible to return the fish to the sea/river. But hell, what do I know J

Maybe it did look better swimming around but If you kill something that is not rare and you eat it there is not the slightest thing wrong with that. And you say when it was necessary to hunt to survive you could understand it. as in now you cant. Do you not eat meat then.

Its huge. I would not have shot it. I say that now but if I saw it I wouldnt be able to resist it. He did well to get it out the water. im supprised it didnt drag him to turkey. he said he had to shoot it twice and it took him half an hour to get it in. he did well. There may be some turkish way of cooking it to make it taste nice.

3ft omg I would swim for my life is I saw that coming towards me - I would love to see the turtles swimming though apparently and, not that I am now encouraging you to kill stingrays, they are better marinaded for a long time then cooked I would rather see them all swimming though and not killed but I feel liek that about shooting as well a tad hypocritical as I am as said a meat eater ! but gald we can still discuss right I am awy fro the night it has been nice talking to you and well done in beting the system lolllllllllllllll

letty - (1) Yes, I do eat meat and fish. (2) Do you specialise in 1-1 conversations? I have found that reading your posts is marginally more interesting than watching paint dry, but, before you say anything, I realise I do not have to read them. Was it not suggested earlier today that you e-mailed the other person you were having a 1-1 conversation with, rather than doing it on here? Just a thought.

ps Jeannie Letty is just passionate about his fishes thats all and wanted to inform others where to fish but his first thread got closed down early. There are plenty of football, rugby chess threads for instance that dont get closed down Actually in the end after knowing nothing about fish or fishing quite enjoyed going to his facebook and seeing his photos - I think the point is whats the difference in wanting to share fishing news others share doggie news ? I say nothing only his got shut down after about 4 postings because it didnt float the mods boat

sienna - maybe I got it wrong. I thought the other thread Letty was posting on got closed down was because it all got a bit silly and personal? There was talk about limousines, etc. etc. Again, knowing me, I completely missed the point?

I repeat one to one conversations should be carried out on Skype or by e-mail! Its like a game of tennis on here. Time the mods closed this one as well. Chris
