Is anyone else having problems with skype, the last couple of weeks has been very bad - mostly the other end

can't hear us at all but we can hear them. I've done the skype sound test which seems ok, anyone having similar

frustrating moments ?

I always do. Mainly because the loudspeakers on my computer are a bit 'naff' and my special plug inphone doesn't work. Hence, I rarely use Skype, but find it helpful for sms and chat. Like you, I do the sound test, and in spite of it being fine, I still find Skype useless for me, but I know others swear by it.

Hope you manage toi clear up. Blame the weather????

Do you have the latest skype version?

Update and/or latest version might help.

I have no problems at all with Skype, in fact I have just made two calls to the UK and they were perfect.

I would do as banjo suggests, update your version to the latest. It may also be a problem with your internet supplier being too slow.

Skype OK with Nethouse 512 for us

To check for updates..

1 Click on the help tab.

2 Select "Check for updates"

That should keep you up to date,

Good luck.

We use skype all the time for both skype to skype and to landlines and the call quality is great at both ends. The video did freeze a coupe of times when the cables were being updated, bu there again it was all running quite slowly. We use the Telsim3G out in Tatlisu but I always make sure I have the latest skype updates.

I use skype to ring my mother and 3 sisters each week. My mother and Jayne who both have BT lines can hear me okay most of the time. But my other two sisters Angela and Jackie seem to cut out some of the time so that I often only hear every other word!!!They are on other networks not BT.

it has nothing to do with "newst updates" of skype....

it is simply because the "download" (... we can hear them...) works and the "upload" (...but they cant hear us....) not!

this very very often happens in ALL ADSL connections, but (usually ) not with 3G.

complain with your ADSL supplier....a 512 or 1024 connection MUST be good enough for skype.

Just change to VOIP for free calls to landlines practically worldwide. €10 to pay every 3 months, and if you don't call mobiles your credit remains, although you will have to pay a further €10 for the next 3 months; and so on.

'Horses for courses' springs to mind - so, if in TRNC, stop grizzling about Skype and change to VOIP - simple as that!

No problems with Skype or Voip. They both work eaxactly the same. The big issue is with the upload though & you're unlikely to be affected by your sownload speed.

Everytime Mr britvic's Dad calls us in the UK from NC on Skype he sounds like a Dalek, and last night at 7.30 our time, we got completely cut off.

Hi Britvic !

re msg 17

As 'Scruff' correctly observed, 9 times / 10 - if you getter stutter / breakup of received audio.. it is t'other end that is the problem.. insufficient upload bandwidth

If using 3G many providers DELIBERATELY stifle 'traffic' to stop use of voIP / SKYPE... as it reduced their profit.

There ya go, 3G'ers - 6m's just given yous the obvious reason/answer.

Now, I think some 'bowing and scraping' is in order, in order to express your humble and eternal gratitude!

My wife and I both use skype with our laptops. My wife's is fine but mine is hard for the recipient to hear which can only be down to a pour microphone on my laptop.
