Solar panels blown off their mountings and smashed roof tiles. This is taken from the Credit West Policy. The insurance at this time last year was £152.56 and was the reccommended policy from their Credit West Bank rep! This was not an Act of God just storm damage.

Quote - "Storm Clause; Goods in open areas, trees, outside light fittings, canopies, awnings, sun blinds, sunshades, TV ariels, satalite dishes and water tanks and their parts are exempt from this policy."

The important part for us was "water tanks and their parts" because the solar panels are part of the water system and they broke the tiles we were not insured and had to pay for the repairs. The panels on our house must be about three years old and the new solar panels being manufactured do not marry up to the old pipe centres so a new (old style) panel has to be manufactured to match. Why do I pay insurance?

Why bother having insurance if they won't settle a claim. Take it to the ombudsman )
