BBC NE is on a vertical transponder on 2D. No vertical transponders can be received with a 4.2m dish

Dear Smoggy Jim

My apologies for not responding more quickly..Arek Naw has provided the answer..;)

Only BBC1 London, N.Ireland Scotland and Wales can be received in Cyprus as the lower frequency vertically polarised signals don't reach.. :(

Same for ITV regions.. Most ITV Carlton / Granada group ITV's of old broadcast on the low V band that we can't receive :(

ITV regions have to be added manually and currently this means using ITV West / Wales Central south.. if you have a subscription card you can get ITV on a 1.8m dish

Dear Mark,

If we bring a Sky HD box over do you know which other channels we can receive with a 1.8m dish if we pay for the Variety Pack (or other?) in the UK?

Many thanks

Hi Astonhilbilly

re msg 9

The HD channels are the strongest - so if you can pay the extra for sports and movies in HD - you should get most of the HD channels - save BBC HD .. but you can go interactive to get many BBC sporting event ( e.g F1 / Rugby / concerts, etc)

If you want to know more and can view my profile I will try to help

A question. Is it worth us bring out our sky plus box in April and get a dish locally? How practical is this. It will only go in the bin otherwise.

Dear Activator

YES to taking it to CY.. a SKY plus has the ability to record, which is most useful, as you can watch the stuff from late the night before when you would have to watch kids TV live - as the UK is two hours behind

If you still don't want your SKY plus I will 'cross your palms with silver' ..same goes for anyone else ;)

Hi Beno12 ( Chris)

I'd say a 1.8m offset to be 'safe'.. ( heavy rain, hight of summer -when signals struggle to break through) [ 1.5m works fine in Limas(s)ol ]
