Called in yesterday and looks like running stock down, loads of stuff (household etc) discounted. Every aisle you went up there were leaks dripping down on your head from all the rain!

McDonalds, Nike shop etc were cleared out and closed down.

Stellastar - We were in Orphanides today - the pet shop was open.



I don't see any evidence that the supermarket is running down its stock. There were precious few shoppers in there, though - not surprising, looking at the OTT prices, despite all their 'Up to 70% off' signs.



I was just ready to (reluctantly!) ingest a 'Big Mac Guts-ache', but 'the bulldozers had already been in'!



Instead, we were obliged to have to swill that excessively priced Espresso, where you get less than a quarter of a cup of insipid liquid that they call 'Espresso Coffee', and the rest of the cup is full of foam.



A good case for taking one's own Thermos flask, I would say.



Oh, and just as I was about to light up a 'gasper', the tart behind the counter bawled at me in Greek: 'Kapnismo apagorefetai!'





'Why go South?', I hear you chorus!



Because I needed some engineering supplies that are unavailable in TRNC, or if available, grossly overpriced.

the express one just over the border is always fully stocked and the staff are great nothing is to much trouble for you
