..... and the “negative results” of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon’s recent visit “proved we were right”.

Did I miss something? Negative results?

on the contrary,

i think the talks are heading in some sort of direction and its obvious these "ultra nationalist" Greek guys don’t like it, hence why they are walking out in a huff and puff !

They don't like Christofias looking like he'll accept shared presidency with the TC minority.

This party still wants Cyprus to be totally Hellenised and that's what started the whole, sorry state of affairs in the first place.

The Greek Cypriots want it all. It's a waste of time talking with them. They will continue to try to economically ruin the north any way they can, unless it suits them for cheap labour etc.

As ever, in Politics - particularly CY Politics - this is more about about themselves than the 'nation'..

By resigning Omirou hopes to be a future 'king maker' ... President Lialotopoulos was leader of DIKO - the then third party and got to be President ... JUST as the TCs wer about to elect a man they could have down biz with ... :(

Now IF.. and I mean IF.. DISY and AKEL could come to some agreement the talks would be absolutely safe.. but that's a bit like asking the Tories to enter a coalition to save Labour ..

Interesting times, ahead

Thank God they are all barmy over there. If Christofias’s isn't careful he could find himself clapped in jail as a traitor, then they might resurrect Mr P. With a good broomstick and someone to shake it, who would know the difference. Not the clowns in the EU that’s for sure.

The truth is finally out, GC's don't and never did want to sort the cyprus problem out. In their eyes the is no cyprus problem to sort out.

TheSaints. mess2

I think the talks ended ages ago but nobody wanted to be the first to say so.

They should be given 3 months to come to agreement before the UN calls a halt and walks away. The EU cant walk away ,but thats their fault for allowing half a country to join the EU.

An international tribunal of non EU countries should be asked to decide who was most to blame for the talks failing and decide on the way forward that favours the less intransigent of the two.

Eu countries should not be involved anymore as there is to much mudding of the waters with Turkeys EU bid.

Clearly some discontent amongst the ROC Government.

The UN and particularly Mr Moon, subsequent to his visit and his encouragment towards a settlement, will be rather disatisfied with ROC antics to hellenise the Island and derail settlement talks.

A goal scored (one of the few) for the TRNC. Lets hope the UN can see the writting on the wall. Who knows we may see new resolutions that start to support the Northern territory as independant from the Greek Southern territory.
