"The Turkish Minister of State and Chief Negotiator with the European Union Egemen Bagis has said “the EU is a significant process for Turkey, but it is not that significant to sacrifice Cyprus". Egemen Bagis was speaking at a press conference in London where he attended a seminar organized by the Global Strategy Forum.

Responding to a question on the British High Appeal Court’s ruling on the Orams Case, he said it was quite clear who supported a solution to the Cyprus Problem, who tried to obstruct it and who tried to make vain excuses. “Turkey and the TRNC have always supported a solution, peace and integration. And the world knows that the other party rejected all our proposals and tried to prevent all our initiatives. We are happy that we managed to change the international perception without withdrawing a single soldier from the island and giving up the smallest part of land. The EU is a significant process for Turkey, but it is not that significant enough to sacrifice Cyprus"

"Expressing that he is still hopeful about the negotiations process being conducted by the two leaders in Cyprus, he said this process is a great opportunity for achieving a settlement in Cyprus."

Also, Paul: ' without withdrawing a single soldier from the island and giving up the smallest part of land.'

Guzelyurt and Maras now won't be returned to the GC's - it sounds like.

Good for Turkey.Guess the ROC will have to give up the EU blackmail card and try to negotiate on a purely Cyprus platform.

Would think Turkey has got fed up with the condescending attitude displayed by ROC and Greece in their role in Turkeys EU bid. Play nice and we will let you have some sweeties.
