From Frank & Joan:

There is a nasty rumour going around today that will do nobody any good in the current climate of property sales and values.

The rumour is that Greatstone Construction have made application for bankruptcy. I have had the opportunity to check this out and it is blatantly untrue. I have also talked this through with Tass, the MD of Greatstone and I believe him when he says, "If I was going to do this, then I would firstly mail all my customers and suppliers in advance".

He fully admits that times are very hard and that he has discussed the consequences with his lawyers and accountant should he need to consider this action, but is quite specific in saying that it will be the very last resort as far as he is concerned. it is a great shame that people can start these rumours without considering the consequences, guess it is probably another of those blog site insinuations.

I hadn't actually heard that rumour but now I'm beginning to wonder why Greatstone Construction have "discussed the consequences with his lawyers and accountant should he need to consider this action."

May I respectfully point out to Frank and Joan that concerning the last sentence referrred to in Msg 1 he may like to consider that some of the rumours he posts on his website do not help situations and are unfounded.

For example:

The government have NOT offered to compulsory purchase the Orams' house. To suggest this is not in anyway helpful to anyone.

I think a pot might be calling a kettle black here................

Mal

that echoes my thoughts.

If you were considering bankruptcy, the last thing you would do is to mail all your customers and suppliers.

Oh dear! Am I 'rumouring'?

I have recieved today an email from Unwins Estate Agents who have previously sold Greatstone homes advising that they have it on good authority that Greatstone are very near to bankruptcy NOT that they have already. They have (so they say) advised all the Advocates of recent buyers about this matter. It really boils down to who/what you believe as I might also add that Unwins are not squeaky clean themselves. However as a customer of Greatstone who is still waiting for their Title Deeds which are not forthcoming I must consider the implications of this possible course of action. I have sent an email to Greatstone asking about this statement made by Unwins but have not recieved a reply.

There are two types of rumour/gossip IMO one is idle and the other malicious.

This rumour has probably caused the buyers a great deal of distress and anxiety, and causes more harm than good, our builder ( and yes I am a buyer) is struggling to keep going, Ok he is not perfect and buyers have had a some what bumpy ride but he is trying to work with some of his clients in what are very difficult circumstances.

Liipylush I will email you as to what I know as I will not discuss this on an open forum, if the buyers need to discuss the problems, we have a Google group, which was set up for this purpose.

I am asking the moderators to close this thread, and I ask those who are not involved to respect this request.

Thankyou.

lippylush, "I have recieved today an email from Unwins Estate Agents who have previously sold Greatstone homes advising that they have it on good authority that Greatstone are very near to bankruptcy NOT that they have already"

If this statement is correct then I would advise that this thread is kept open to at least give the company a chance to reply. The damage is done, 100s have read this, and to close now will mean the rumour will just spread in other ways.

I, like thousands of others, have made a large investment in NC.

If there is any discussion about a developer/builder/agent/advocate etc that invovles me, I want to know about it.

We all know the current problems, especially property related.

This is the largest and most informative forum in NC. As Mal says, this thread should be kept open, if not only to allow the company to respond, but also to inform any who are buying/awaiting completion.

For many, it's their life savings involved, not just a bit of idle gossip.
